I'm using the stock riger db120-wl modem router. i notice the wifi will have problem after certain amount of time. my laptop (connected via wifi) will lose internet connectivity. i can't go to any website. can't go to the router page. i need to disconnect and reconnect the wifi, then i can continue online.

is this a known issue?

i use vistumbler to scan for wifi at my area. windows picks up only 1 wifi with ssid (which is my own riger). vistumbler picks up my riger wifi ssid as well as 3 more, which mac address runs consecutively & not secured.

is my riger broadcasting non secured internet which can be stolen by unscrupulous user?

short answer is yes. but the said internet is not shown normally. those that want to connect, need to type the name of the SSID, which is in this case IIRC is Riger1, Riger2 and Riger3 respectively. the problem is, they just need the SSID name to connect and gain internet access. the simple solution i use is put strong, random alphanumeric WPA2 password to block the access.
*
as far as i know, riger can only set one password for 1 ssid. how is it possible to set 4 passwords for each of them?

how do you know it is riger1/riger2/riger3?

i tried on my win7 laptop, manually enter ssid riger2, but it can't even connect.

My RIGER-DB120WL has problem cry.gif Less than 2 months old. When the power is switched on, no light illuminates.

What is the common problem? Power adapter?

Do I need to bring this router+power adapter to TM for replacement? or Should I lodge a report at TM and wait for the technician to come to my house for replacement and setup?

do u know how to disable ipv6 in TM provided Innatech W7100N?
My streamyx is fast on everything... download speed is normally 500KBps... imdb, yahoo movies HD no problem... but youtube is super slow... only watchable at 144p.

EDIT: found it in a hidden setting in WAN.

Poor upstream SNR. Don't fix it if you don't face frequent disconnection.

that was with the signal going through my cal-lab lightning isolator. dunno why it badly affect the upstream.
after removing the cal-lab, this is the reading:

Downstream Power 6.0 dBm

Same, my cal lab mess up my ADSL connection. doh.gif

Do you contact their support?
*
I didn't called them. Have u contacted before?

My cal-lab was initially used in my living room (use it as power strip). I just wanna try it on my desktop and streamyx internet, then realized the bad upstream SNR. The cal-lab is now taken out of my internet for good, but leave it without lightning protection.

Any idea of a good lightning protection for my PC and modem router setup? Do u think Asus 4000volt lightning protection feature on their products is just a marketing gimmick?

I'm using SFTV9622FC

found a post by gkl83 (cal-lab seller in this forum)

only SF9512DSL can use for ADSL streamyx modem; SFTV9622FC only for analog telephone

I got one question for Streamyx 4Mbps users here...

Is it just me and my friends here in Penang, or everybody is having Youtube being throttled starting 1130am till 130am?

They claim they don't throttle Youtube video streams but me and my friend is complaining the same thing, buffering even on 144p which is super ridiculous...
*
are you on ipv6?
