Thanks for advice, I have asked TM agent and call 100 already, both said my location not supported for higher than 1 Mbps. As I already wait for 4 years still cannot upgrade, so I decided complaint to MCMC and CFM. but didn't get any great news. So, I posted my modem details to get confirmation from you guys. I am helpless and don't know why my line is good enough, still cannot upgrade. icon_question.gif

There is possibility that your cabinet don't support more than 1Mb.

Hi all, need help..im currently using 4mbps streamyx since that is the highest speed during the time..now i realize TM box just outside my Flat area got sticker said 8mbps already available..so i quickly find TM agent and i found 1 from FB and PM him. After give all tel no and address then he said cannot upgrade because my flat is to far from that box or something like that. Now, is that true? My current line cannot easily upgrade to 8mbps? do TM need to do special wiring or something?

Maybe the agent knows that there are problems with signal attenuation in your block of flats?

If you want to find out more, I suggest u go to the nearest TM Point, give them your phone number and ask them to call the tech dept to ask if your area really can get stable 8mbps connect.

About 4 or 5 days ago I got a call from TM asking if I want to upgrade from 4 to 8 meg with free Hypp tv for RM150/month...the upload rate is still the same as 4 meg package and I don't really need more download speed, so I declined.

My 2 sen opinion: Shabery Cheek (if he was not just spouting hot air) is looking into reducing internet prices. Should he be successful, hopefully we will pay less. It is unclear if any price reductions will also apply to the rates in a contract. My contract with TM expires soon...so I will wait and see. If you don't really need faster speed for the time being, I suggest that you wait a while also to see what develops.

quite true IINM.. higher speed package need to be closer to cabinet. reason simple. too far, too much interference due to copper wire used, thus resulting in slower speed. now, u dun wanna pay for 8mbps package but get lower speed rite?

I compared yr SNR and attenuation stats to post #1's figures in this thread and your figures range from good to excellent to outstanding! (12.1dB for downstream SNR is outstanding) Looks like you already have a very decent connect. Are you encountering any problems?

The SNR downstream quite low ,and the attenuation for downstream also very high. The downstream stats not really good compared to the upstream.

Don't worry about it if your connection is stable.

Don't fix what isn't broken.

Whoops..I mixed up SNR and line attenuation where downstream was concerned. My bad...was blurrr. Let me remedy that properly.

Comparing the stats in post#775 with the figures and their ratings in post #1:

SNR up: 29.3dB. Outstanding
SNR down: 12.1dB. Good with no sync problem
Line attenuation up: 8dB. 20dB and below is outstanding
Line attenuation down: 29.3dB. 20dB-30dB is excellent

Yes his SNR downstream is a bit on the low side. What would u suggest to remedy that. A new microfilter perhaps? The rest of the figures seem to be rather good.

normal user wont benefit... most chinese download sites are p2p...

tm blocked all p2p torrent connections...

unless you are VIP user (which benefit the direct download and offline download).. then you are stuck with that streamyx speed
