I've received a call from TM salesperson and finalised the upgrade to 4mbps last Tuesday.
They said it'll take 7 working days to upgrade my speed.

Thing is, how would I know once they've upgraded? Will a technician come or is it done automatically and I will just have to restart my modem?

because using p1 1Mbps, around 7am-7pm..i can always reach 110-160kbps torrent speed, at night usually almost no connection at all.

I live in Seri Iskandar, Perak (Near UTP University) and I am using a TM 4Mbps connection since last 5 months. During all these 5 months, internet speed in daytime is fine, but then speed goes slower in evening and stuck in between 1.5-2.5Mbps (I test through speedtest) everyday till midnight. I have complained many times(at TM 100). Technicians have visited at my house and have replaced my modem 3 three times, changed wire connection from local distribution point but problem did not solve yet. Technicians know nothing about real problem and keep changing things, which have caused to get slower speed now in daytime also. I dont know how to solve this as technicians are unable to solve this. Now technicians visit everytime and say we will try. I am very disappointed as I pay RM150 every month without using full bandwidth. I am a PhD student and spend my daytime at my university. When I return to home in evening, I get this worst speed, even can't stream youtube vidoes as speed continuously fluctuates.

I am posting this here to know if anyone else also had the same problem and wanted to get a suggestion to solve it. I repeat again that TM technician know nothing expect to replace equipment. My current modem is Riger120W and I have wifi problem in it. (WiFi LED automatically turns off after every 5-10 minutes for sometimes). Restarting of router automatically is also very common for this modem also.

Please help.

Is TM modem the real problem?? Because during daytime, internet speed is fine (Mostly get 4.2Mbps with speed test)

do u mean modem that came with streamyx? that silver colored one? btw that one is Riger DB120-WL.
IIRC, that modem will broadcast unprotected hidden network which make any user that know the SSID can use it to connect and gain free access..

well, this is just an assumption..

considering u mention that the speed getting worse at evening, which is when other ppl came back from work, i highly suspect that there's other ppl tap into that hidden SSID and use ur connection, thus making your internet slow. and i certainly sure that said thief is heavy downloader, which is possible torrenting via your line.

i know ur feeling... i having same problem too, but im 8mbps user, during daytime no problem .. but when the night fall.... i only getting 2-3 mbps. i start having this problem quite recently, be4 that it work fine.... i even noticed that my SNR is drop from 25dB to 17 dB .... my staying place is quite new.. i dont think is the wire problem... well ntg i can do, just hope they can fix it

really mad about streamyx pay only for youtube streaming. outside malaysia no capped international bandwidth.really sad for streamyx

Should be no problem if your SNR is high and Attenuation is low
But better call TM for comfirmation on port availability
