Plonked down the cash for a Digital Guardian edition. I'm an idiot, I barely have time to play games anyway! Activision is betting big on this franchise, I guess it doesn't hurt to get in early on this one.. Hope the subsequent DLCs and their 10-year plan for this series pan out, I want to bet on a winning horse!

So many cutscenes compared to Beta. Happy to prove those who says there is no story wrong lol
*
Delivery of the story in the cutscenes has been pretty bland and monotonous based on what I've seen so far, hopefully it will improve significantly later in the game. The Speaker's line reads leave a lot to be desired and unfortunately he seems to be the main vessel by which the story is being presented.

The legendary ghost, ship and emblem were waiting for me at the postmaster, for those who preordered the game / bought the collector's edition, whichever applies.

It's fun shooting stuff with other people but the story seems to be really boring. Line deliveries are usually flat, and everyone's always so stoic and everything's so grim. Seems like playing this game by yourself would kind of be a bummer.

Hopefully this improves later in the game.

Darn it, in the middle of an intense Moon Strike mission and got disconnected while fighting the giant ogre. This is the third time I have been disconnected in the middle of a match, sigh. Doesn't happen with other games, I wonder if there's a server issue.

Xur is in the Tower since yesterday now, he's directly opposite the Crucible Handler. Trade your silver coins and motes with him for some sick Exotic gear! It's gonna take me a while until I get enough though.

I gotta say, I'm not sure I like the endgame grind. Game's still fun, but it probably took me all of five hours to get from level 20 to 22. Maybe I'm just unlucky with the loot drops..

The Valus Ta'aurc boss fight on the Tiger Strike playlist is effing ridiculous. Currently engaged in a battle of attrition, just a quarter of his health to go. The homing missile spam is such a huge cheese.

At least I get 30 seconds of break every so often. Enough time for me to write this post! tongue.gif

LOL!!! let us know how much total time u used to took it down lolz..

Finally done. Took us an hour just for that damn boss fight itself. The bullet sponge is frankly ridiculous. And all I got out of the mission is some lower level gear. What the f.

At this point it feels like the game is effing around with me now, my last four strike missions all gave me the same level gear for the same parts (helmet and boots). I need an upgrade for my torso and arms, darn it! vmad.gif

I'm going to take a break for a few hours and come back later. Getting tired of playing with randoms with no voice chat coordination, so anybody with mics up for some Vanguard Tiger strike playlist action hit me up -- PSN ID @swimbuff. I'll be back around 4 to 5pm.

Anybody want to farm Engrams with me? We're one person short to make this an efficient process. It's a dumb process, but it works.

I can see why the current system they have for legendaries is frustrating. Not only the engrams are super rare, there's also a decent chance that it will turn into a rare item after decrypting it, and then you have to hope it's something for your class.

So I'm curious about how you folks feel about the lootgame, what do you think about it?

After putting in 14+ hours in the postgame and getting a total of 3 legendary engrams, of which only 1 resulted in actual legendary gear, I feel like I'm not getting enough out of the game considering the time I've invested in it. Bungie needs to adjust some of the drop rate, or give a higher chance of legendary engrams turning into legendary gear.

The only reason I"m still playing it is because there's no other game that I'm interested in right now but once that release calendar heats up come Christmas, you'll be sure that I'm playing a different game by then. The current content in the game is too threadbare to hold my attention, and I suspect it'll be the same for others.

I've been playing Diablo II for 10 years and only managed to secure <10 legendaries that fit my characters. Played WoW for 6 months till level cap and zero legendary although I'm an aggressive raiders. It's just bad luck, but I kept playing anyway.
*
It's a bit difficult to compare but I'm guessing that Diablo legendaries are more akin to Exotic gear in Destiny (highest tier of rarity). That drop rate still sounds nuts though, I imagine you stuck with the game because the gameplay is engaging.

The problem with the low legendary gear drop rate in Destiny is that you're locked out of content if you're not a high enough level. I'm at level 24 right now and ostensibly cannot progress further until I get legendary armour. At this point, I'm locked out of the level 28 Weekly Nightfall Strike and am underleveled to do the level 26 raid at a reasonable difficulty.

Just realized it's been a while since i checked destiny forum. Been playing too obsessively sweat.gif

Currently at Lvl21 and grinding like crazy in crucible and strike mission for rep points and marks but it's soo effing slow rclxub.gif

Plus, I havent been able to get any legendary or exotic weaponry/armor. Not even effing engrams. Just blue engrams that gives me effing green or blue! mad.gif

The last time I had a legendary engram was when gaming with rei7 and isr25 and even that gave me an effing green weapon!!!

Man, I was hoping to reach lvl26 by today so I can join raids but it seems unlikely cry.gif

For those that manage to reach lvl26 & above, share2 some tips for raids ya! Hopefully I can go raids by this weekend after constantly upping crucible rep points to buy them armors.
*
My guess is that you'll be able to join the raid from level 24, if it follows the strike playlists that unlock once you reach two levels below the playlist level. I am at level 24 wearing rare gear only, with maxed out armour upgrades from doing bounties.

Lol frustrated that you can't get a good loot. This is how the game is, which requires massive grinding.
For sure never play MMORPG, Diablo, WoW and etc la ni..
Good weapons are suppose to be hard to get, why would it be easier?
Like that if everyone already got all the exotic gears by now, what's the point of playing it now?
It's designed that way, so that you will play more to get the best gear. It's like any other end game.

Good gear doesn't effect your game in crucible, people get it in anticipation for Iron Banner, which is the real deal with good loot.
*
Yeah because this is the first (probably?) FPS that borrowed the endgame elements from MMORPGs, I'm interested to hear different perspectives on it. Both from people who play MMOs and people who don't.

I don't mind the exotic loot drop rate actually, seems fine to me that those remain super rare. I also think it's perfectly fine for people to express their frustration on the drop rate, I don't think that's been fully figured out yet in game design.

One of the difference between the endgame between Destiny and WoW, is that in WoW there are plenty of stuff to do other than just grinding for gear. SilverCrimz also makes a good point about the grinding feels aimless, because all it is right now is for higher numbers. Hopefully new content coming up in the next few months will surface this better, starting with the Raid today.

That said, anybody want to get a group together for the raid later?

True. Just a way of Bungie to tease us to get more loot lol.
You pay monthly for WoW and they can add content without worrying about money.
Tell me what other shooters that has a story which has a lot of modes in a game. Plus must be awesome in co-op.
There is a lot of modes already. Crucible alone has 4 normal modes, plus a lot of other modes which is event only or weekly/monthly thing.
Plus Vanguard and Strike is pretty awesome as well for PvE. There is explorations, story and others as well..
Already with all those of things to do yet people complain about it. It's a shooter game for god sake.
Take Titanfall for an example, at the exact some price and you get so little modes and content yet not so many complain.

If grinding is aimless then you are already finished with the game, yet people still play it why?
Even the one who said it still plays it every single day  tongue.gif
Like i've already mentioned, those loot are for Iron Banner, where all the weapons stats, armor stats counts.
Also it's for Strike and Raids as well. It's not easy to complete it if you use a common weapon, try it yourself.

It's a 10 year project for Bungie and the world is forever expanding they say. So just look forward for more.
*
You invited the comparison with WoW, but I agree that with WoW they can bankroll new content with the monthly fees. Superficially Destiny has a lot of modes (both PvE and PvP), what you actually do in them don't differ significantly.

There is no meaningful gameplay distinction between Story and Strike because they both involve going to a place, defend a point while your Ghost scans something, then defeat a bullet sponge boss, repeat ad naseum. Patrol is arguably worse, with the most meaningless MMO-type missions scattered around, which I'm sure you'll agree is not the most compelling content.

Unsurprisingly being a Bungie game, the shooting feels great. But the variety of guns is disappointing though, because while you get four primary weapon types, once you stick with one there's nothing big to differentiate a low-level auto rifle and a high level auto rifle. I wished it was something closer to Borderlands where you can get wildly different and interesting guns to play with.

PvP has decent modes in them, but I can't really comment since I'm not huge on them. Some of my friends prefer Titanfall though, so that comparison is neither here nor there I suppose for me.

I am certainly enjoying the game, even with the deficiencies with story and variety, and will continue playing it since nothing much else is out there. I've probably put in more than 24 hours in the game but that doesn't mean I can't take a step back and criticise it for its faults though.

There's a lot of unrealised potential to this game, and as you say I look forward for more. It's only been a week since release after all.

Edit: LFG Vault of Glass tongue.gif. It's unlocked on Venus now. Any dudes up for it? I wish there was an easier way to link up at the Tower, lack of chat window makes it a bit difficult. sweat.gif

Man, the Raid sure looks like hell to complete. I think I'll try to level up a bit before attempting it.

My requisite engram check-in: I got 2 rares and 1 exotic heavy weapon from my last 3 legendary engrams. Suppose the exotic makes up for the blues. I'm now 2 for 9 on legendary engrams giving noteworthy gear.

Also, infinite bladedancing super at mob spawn point is so dumb. I did this for what felt like five minutes in the Hive vs Fallen war on Earth:

Just wanted to drop this note, but levelling up your Vanguard / Crucible rep and buying from the vendors is a more sure fire way of getting legendaries. I bought two purple gear from them. Screw the RNG. tongue.gif

Anyways, apparently the team that has completed the Raid has gotten a Shade call Chatterwhite which basically makes your whole equipment look white and some gears that gives bonus damage to oracles/praetorians. I bellieve once everyone has good raiding gear, the raid itself should pose much of a problem any longer.
*
Once they complete the raid, then they get to try it on Hard!

So what you people do with your legendary gear not for your class? Dismantle for rare mats or keep for future characters?

I have one in storage right now, might dismantle it.. Need them shards!
