True. Just a way of Bungie to tease us to get more loot lol.
You pay monthly for WoW and they can add content without worrying about money.
Tell me what other shooters that has a story which has a lot of modes in a game. Plus must be awesome in co-op.
There is a lot of modes already. Crucible alone has 4 normal modes, plus a lot of other modes which is event only or weekly/monthly thing.
Plus Vanguard and Strike is pretty awesome as well for PvE. There is explorations, story and others as well..
Already with all those of things to do yet people complain about it. It's a shooter game for god sake.
Take Titanfall for an example, at the exact some price and you get so little modes and content yet not so many complain.
If grinding is aimless then you are already finished with the game, yet people still play it why?
Even the one who said it still plays it every single day
Like i've already mentioned, those loot are for Iron Banner, where all the weapons stats, armor stats counts.
Also it's for Strike and Raids as well. It's not easy to complete it if you use a common weapon, try it yourself.
It's a 10 year project for Bungie and the world is forever expanding they say. So just look forward for more.
You invited the comparison with WoW, but I agree that with WoW they can bankroll new content with the monthly fees. Superficially Destiny has a lot of modes (both PvE and PvP), what you actually do in them don't differ significantly.
There is no meaningful gameplay distinction between Story and Strike because they both involve going to a place, defend a point while your Ghost scans something, then defeat a bullet sponge boss, repeat ad naseum. Patrol is arguably worse, with the most meaningless MMO-type missions scattered around, which I'm sure you'll agree is not the most compelling content.
Unsurprisingly being a Bungie game, the shooting feels great. But the variety of guns is disappointing though, because while you get four primary weapon types, once you stick with one there's nothing big to differentiate a low-level auto rifle and a high level auto rifle. I wished it was something closer to Borderlands where you can get wildly different and interesting guns to play with.
PvP has decent modes in them, but I can't really comment since I'm not huge on them. Some of my friends prefer Titanfall though, so that comparison is neither here nor there I suppose for me.
I am certainly enjoying the game, even with the deficiencies with story and variety, and will continue playing it since nothing much else is out there. I've probably put in more than 24 hours in the game but that doesn't mean I can't take a step back and criticise it for its faults though.
There's a lot of unrealised potential to this game, and as you say I look forward for more. It's only been a week since release after all.
Edit: LFG Vault of Glass

. It's unlocked on Venus now. Any dudes up for it? I wish there was an easier way to link up at the Tower, lack of chat window makes it a bit difficult.
