Ah Boom, remember the issue with BR paying interest on 1st of the month for some FD certs ? Those affected one they are supposed to pay the add'l days when they matured. I calculated the one that was matured today and they did deposit the add'l days interest.  rclxms.gif
*
Oh..This is a good news..
Are you talking about old type Mubeen?
My Mubeen FD is 5 years FD, not mature yet...

SCB 4% Bonus Saving plan was making me crazy for past few days.. Now I know how does it work since
after visiting another SCB branch couples of time, and also calling SCB hotline many times.... sad.gif

Step by step like this:

(1) Join SCB priority banking

(2) Deposit minimum RM 10K fresh fund to JustOne current account during any day in the month for 6 months.

(3) Use online banking to transfer RM 10K from JustOne current account to JustOne saving account on the same
day to earn 4% interest in saving account, because current account has no interest.

(4) As long as deposit RM 10k fresh to current account every month, all money deposited to saving account during
6 months promotion period will get 4% interest.

I think this plan is good for consolidating small funds while still can earn 4% interest (actually maybe slightly lower than 4%)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I went to May Bank to withdraw money this afternoon, below was the conversation:

Me: Encik, May Bank ada FD ke..?

Staff: Ada, kita ada 3.7% untuk 3 bulan sekarang

Me: Bukan 3.87%..?

Staff: Oh.. yang itu mesti bawa check dari lain bank..

Me: Ya.. saya tahu, saya ada dengar khabar angin..

Staff: Ya ke.. angin besar ke..? (Staff looked panic.. biggrin.gif .. Ha ha..quite funny..)

Me: Saya ada dengar ramai orang cakap mesti bawa check dari, CIMB, RHB dan MBSB, betul ke..?

Suddenly one famale staff came to join our conversation...

Female staff: check dari lain bank pun boleh

Me: Check dari Hong Leong boleh ke?

Female: Boleh juga. tapi mesti cepat lah, kalau kita hit target, promosi ini akan tamat awal

Me: Ok.. Minimum deposit nak berapa?

Female: RM 50K

haha Mbb staff already worried about the 3.87% FD thingy when u mention chq from CIMB, RHB & MBSB.. then the female staff came to the rescue the situation from getting worse  tongue.gif

I guess MBB original plan is:
(1) Check from RHB, CIMB & MBSB: 3.87%
(2) Check not from these 3 banks: 3.7%

Ha ha.. I think MBB realized they are making mistake to irritate these 3 banks..
But MBB hair is already wet.. biggrin.gif

Yes, it is Mubeen printed on the left bottom side of the FD cert

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Oct 10 2014, 07:22 AM)
I asked yesterday about the minimum, the answer I got is RM 25k. So, diff MBB branch seems to be quoting different minimum sum for the promo. But they did say it will stop when target met.

Last week the 4% upfront FD stopped the day I went in. Initially said several days after the day I went in. Then in the afternoon, one MBB lady called me (she met me whiling placing the FD) said ended that day.  sad.gif
*
Because now many people go for FD instead of investment products, including our Uncle Magic.. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Oct 10 2014, 07:35 AM)
They told me the 3 mth 3.7% is for current fund. But it could be just a cover up story. They said they cannot advertise the promo, obviously !    biggrin.gif

That time I also asked for the 3.87% FD flyer from May bank, but they said they did not have it.

If based on SCB terms & conditions 6.1, the answer is yes.

https://www.sc.com/my/edm/priority-banking/...-Conditions.pdf

But after deposit fresh fund RM 10K to JustOne Priority CA, then can use online banking to transfer RM 10K to Justone
Priority SA to earn 4% on the same day --> This is confirmed OK. All 3 SCB staffs talked to me the same that all SCB
customers are doing this way.

Another method is, for 2nd month and for the rest of the months, withdraw the existing fund RM 10K from SA, and deposit
back to CA for each month, but cannot use online banking to transfer fund because this RM 10K deposit to CA needs to be fresh fund. So, this has to be done in bank counter, and you have to remind the teller cannot use transfer fund in between SA and CA,
but have to use one in and one out method, this means you have to fill-out one withdrawal form and one deposit form. ---> I think this method should be OK based on the T & C, but still need to double confirm with SCB.

QUOTE(okuribito @ Oct 10 2014, 08:21 AM)
but can trsfr immediately to the 4% JO saving acct? wat happen in the 6th mth? can take out all from JO saving acct if no more 4% ?
*
Can, can transfer RM 10K to SA on the same day as long fulfill the requirement to deposit fresh fund RM 10K to CA every month.
SCB just wants to see we deposit fresh fund RM 10K to CA every month only, after that we can withdraw this RM 10K from CA
anytime. CA has no interest, who wants to put RM 10K there for no interest?

If you join SCB priority banking this month, your 4% Bonus Saving offer will end in 31 March (6 months), then you can withdraw all money from SA & CA on 1st of April after all your earned interest is paid. We can see the interest payment in online banking
account.

SCB officer reminded me that when deposit fresh fund RM 10K to CA, this RM 10K has to be from one check (cash also ok), this means you cannot deposit RM 10K from 2 checks. doh.gif

Ah Boom, what is your take on the BR FD rate hike for 1 year ? It looks attractive to me. I have tone down my FD in BR. But will still maintain some despite all the negative news. I still like their monthly interest payment which worked very well for me. But no more nego rate, need to see the new BM there to confirm.  smile.gif
*
If BR can match KFH 4.09% for 1 year, then I will probably go for BR because KFH monthly interest will credit
to KFH saving account, if we want to do online banking (IBG), then I guess we need to pay RM 8.00 annually
for the KFH ATM card.

Furthermore, it is very hard to find parking in most KFH branches, and I try to avoid to give my IC photo copy
to many banks.

KFH's 26 Months effective rate 4.49% is very attractive..I am more interested in this promo rather than 4.09%
promo.

If compared KFH's 4.49 for 26 months vs. SCB's 4.25% for 18 months and vs. MBSB's 4.7% for 5 years, I think
most likely I will go for KFH. BR is totally out of the FD game lah this time...

Now we are in the situation the FD promo rates are getting better and better..

I am worried what if after place 4.49% with KFH, then MBSB suddenly offers 5.00% for 5 years? hmm.gif
Very headache...

I 100% agree with you that I love to IBG BR monthly interest every month to my saving account...really cannot live
without this..

Now KFH offers very attractive rates wor...at least we have one more option to consider..
I am still waiting and expecting MBSB to react soon, BR is hopeless...

Ah Goat, Post #2 has been updated... Ha Ha..

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Oct 11 2014, 02:20 PM)
Hi guys, I'm back. And as usual, the first thing I do is update my FD Page to assist you in earning more MONEY!

Like I mentioned back in September at my Facebook Page, SCB was the first commercial bank to offer 4% Straight Forward Pure FD Promotion and we can expect more banks to follow.

And I got good news for you! Two more commercial banks are offering pure FD promotions which are better than SCB current 4% 12 months FD.

1. Alliance Bank is offering 4% for their FD Gold 12 Months Tenure. The Alliance Bank FD Gold credit the interest monthly into a CASA account. Therefore, with the interest credited monthly, you actually earn effective interest rate of more than 4%

2. UOB is offering more than 4% for their 12 Months Pure Straight Forward Fixed Deposit Promo. I.e. NO Stupid CASA Requirement or Bull Shit Step Up Rates or need to have a CASA account for interest to be credited into. Also check out their 3 months FD Rate and you'll be surprised!

With the 3 banks 12 Months FD promos mentioned above, i.e. Alliance Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and UOB, other banks FD Promos (e.g. HLB and OCBC) does not look attractive.

UOB 3 months Pure FD Promo is even better than the hassle OCBC 4.5% 3 Months Savings Deal where you need to deposit equal amount into CASA.

Once again, to start earning more money with your funds, click here to my Fixed Deposit Page at my blog to see more FD Promos and read my comments. Also, I have updated post No.1.
*
Welcome back thumbup.gif Captain. Thanks for the FD update..

Abang nomen reported that UOB has revised the Promotional Rate to 12 months FD tenure to 4.05% p.a

effective rates:-
13 mths = 3.760% or 3.779% if compounded.
26 mths = 4.098% or 4.149% if compounded.

Now, the 2nd round of Bank FD offer battle has begun again... Ha Ha.. biggrin.gif

Glad to see that BSN is posting their FD promo 3.95% web banner on this thread..
This means BSN is aware that this thread is famous and popular for latest FD info... thumbup.gif

KFH has changed so that the debit card they give out do NOT have annual fees. Last year they told me charges like >RM10 per year. This year they said changed. Note they are not exactly like a bank, though I do not know the actual diff between KFH and other M'sian banks.  smile.gif

I believe BSN offer is with SA tie up.  hmm.gif

This is for sure, earned monthly interest will credit to KFH saving account.
My concern is, if we want to use IBG to transfer monthly interest from KFH saving account, we need to get
a KFH ATM card or debit card first, but if the debit card is free, then this is no longer an issue.

Noticed Captain's blog has more explanation about recent FD promos: thumbup.gif
http://generationsxyz.blogspot.com/p/fixed-deposit.html

Oh... BSN..? Sorry.. I made a mistake.. doh.gif

I am not interested in BSN FD, unless their FD rates are very fantastic.
Another reason is, I am scared to give my photostat IC to many banks, I try to reduce the "potential risk".. sweat.gif

SCB 4.25% for 18 mths is still the best but could be over already or very soon.

UOB 12 mth 4.05% is attractive.  rclxms.gif

Oh.. This is real suck la.. need to wait for 2 days for the check clearance and lose 2 days interest..?
I think we need to put this as one of our FD Golden Rules that if the bank needs check clearance or not
before place FD there.. very dangerous.. hmm.gif

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Oct 11 2014, 05:24 PM)
You seen to have given up on BR ? The 12 mth 4.1% with monthly interest looks good to me.  smile.gif
*
No, not really. I am still interested in placing FD with BR if they have a good rate, but will not
as aggressive to place FD there as before.

Oh.. you can get 4.1% for 12 months from BR? That is an extra of 0.2% from BR board rate.

But I do not understand why didn't you put in BR instead of HL Islamic since BR can give you
better return..? hmm.gif

You are doing it right if your concern is to diversify, .. hmm.gif
In my opinion, 1 year time will pass very fast lah, unless if we are talking about more than 2 years tenure..

For me, to place 1 year FD, I will go for the best rate.

And don't forget, BR (as well as MBSB) is concerned about the long term customer/business relationship..

Recently, I placed the 4% SCB promo. But I have a bad experience as I had to wait for one hour for the opening of FD account although there were not much of customers. On top of that, I need to open CASA to be eligible for the promotion  doh.gif

Based on all sifus experience, is UOB able to open FD account faster than SCB?

To wait for an hour to open a FD account is a bit long, but not too long lah..

To open SCB JustOne CASA do not cost you any money, you can leave zero balance in CASA, so this is not a big deal..

Bro, if the extra % is worthwhile, no choice but got to wait. Previously when UOB "converted" to new account numbering system, many also had to wait for hours but I guess this is no longer the case. Having said that, sometime I also have to wait for close to an hour before I am served at UOB Privilege Banking counters because there is just too many people.

Usually foreign banks require more info and require us to sign numerous forms. I can tell you if you are new to Citibank, it can also take more than an hour just to sign up for a new account. From my experience, best time to go to the banks is after 3pm where there will be less people.
*
Captain, go to the banks to place FD after 3.00pm is too risky lah..
All checks deposit in after 4.00pm will make the FD effective date delay for one day, so this
will lose one day interest.

I would say the best time to go is first thing in the morning to make sure can get the FD cert
on the same day..
