if we get cesc then we have to offload jack or ramsey liao. no point
*
nah, offload Ozil. IF not he will be the next Caroll or Arshavin, big money signing, but not worth it at all to get 4-5 few good performance a season and the other 30+ total waste of space. Speaking of laziness, i suddenly remembered how he lazily took a penalty and tried to chip Neuer vs Munich in CL last season... It's Manuel Neuer for goodness sake not Szcesny.

Do note, i am NOT talking about him playing out of position, I am talking about his laziness to track back/defend, to get back the ball after he is dispossessed and in general he is just plain weak, every time he is fouled he would stay at ground looking at the ref as if the ref should be on his side instead of getting back up as quickly to regain possession. Anyone of us here at AST can knock him off and steal the ball from him imo.

Again, i am not criticizing his attacking ability, it's what he does without the ball that irks most of us here.

Sorry if i am being too critical but enough is enough really. How long more do we need to give him to 'blend' in and get used to the premier league?

Fabregas will help Chelsea win the prem. league title.

and at the end of the day all we can say is, "we could have taken him back".

what you said is true
but selling a 42m signing after a season?
not gonna happen at a club like arsenal
*
Don't get me wrong, im not saying sell him. It was just a reply to an earlier post mentioning to offload jack or ramsey. My reply would be, better to offload Ozil.

What i really want is, for someone, be it Wenger or Per to give a good 'talk' or scolding if needed to wake Ozil up. Like seriously wake Ozil up.

Remember last season when Ozil refused to thank the travelling fans and Per scolded him right there and then? and after that match, for 1-2 games Ozil played like is expected of him? Yeah that.

won't matter if we spent $200M buying new players, they won't improve us as much as a new manager. i have so much respect for arsene, but he is simply getting 'stale'.
*
His playing style is definitely stale. Just like Spain in the WC, 1-2 season would look so pretty and all but when everyone learns how to counter, you end up being 1-dimensional and nothing else to turn to.

Just like the commentators said in the Arsenal vs City game just now, "everyone knows how to handle Arsenal" "you look at the calender and see Arsenal and you go like oh we just have to be physical with them and stop their rhythm and that's what City are doing here"

not really. we ditched him this time around. he wanted arsenal. we couldnt take him in. but sigh. how good if he was here. but then again, im not sure how to balance up the team with all players eager to make something happen
*
yes we ditched him, thats why if Chelsea wins the prem league at the end of the day, we as Arsenal fans could only say, "we could have taken him back".

I don't care if you hate Cesc for leaving or if you still love Cesc, at the end of the day, he will help whichever club he plays for and they will benefit a lot from having him.

and i agree with you, if we did bring back Cesc, we would have trouble balancing the team and is the reason why we didn't take Cesc back, and that would come bite us in the ass some day if it's not already happening.

Personal point on Cesc: I would have taken him back no matter what. 1) take him back 2) think about what to do with him later... Because he has all the qualities to play in prem. league, including being a leader which something we don't even have now. Come on, can you honestly see Arteta captaining us to winning the prem. league?

if ronaldo out then it would be a very weird scene.

sanchez and cesc left, di maria ozil and ronaldo left, costa left for the pl.

it's like suddenly the la liga players want to play here. dont think messi will tho, he's a barca youth DNA
*
well hey, he considered joining Arsenal before renew contract at Barca. But we definitely cant afford him.

Carragher said Arsenal can't win the league
This Carragher is really a twat
*
but he is right. Can you see Arsenal winning the league without a proper CDM? and after watching Flamini's performance against City? lulz

Now also we terghegeh-hegeh with our defensive options after injury to Debuchy, so either Chambers or Bellerin will take up RB. If Chambers play, Bellerin sub < then who back up Per/Kos? Now also Monreal and Gibbs keep getting injury, one comes back from injury the other picks up an injury.

and Ozil with his shite defending and defensive work rate, we are effectively 9 vs 10 when defending.

Yup, Arsenal no chance of ever winning anything this season.
Please reward Man City the league trophy now just to make it simple.
*
LOL. Some Arsenal fans here get ultra-defensive with everything? I'm being realistic. Good for you if you can see us winning the premier league, if you ask me, I would say no, not with this kind of squad depth, availability of key players in key positions and player roles. Retaining the FA Cup or winning the League Cup? Sure, I will say we have a chance there. Not for the BPL and UCL for me. No need to get so defensive and sarcastic. You have your views, I have mine. I wasn't being offensive to anyone, so you don't need to either.

After so many years, our squad depth are the best among this several years, but our opponent just getting better that has made the difference between us and the other team. BTW it is still a promising team without a real deal CDM. Hope really made some real deal in the winter transfer~~ rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif
*
yes, spot on. Indeed we have a better squad compared to recent years, but as you said, opponents are also stronger. So when you compare like for like, we are definitely lacking, which brings us back to square one.

I also agree we are promising team, even last season we already are. But without enough cover for the back 4, it ultimately costed us time and time again against stronger teams. <I just dont want that to repeat again this season, it would be very foolish of us when that happens because we could have dealt with that situation but we did not.

Nobody can deny that when we are going forward towards goal we are, if I may say, on par with the likes of City, Chelsea and even United if we have a fully fit squad.

I agree that Chelsea and Man City have better depth, but not Man U, they have a really strong squad but their sub is really not that good compare to our squad
icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

MU definitely doesn't have a good squad depth, but their starting 11 is scary... Bare in mind they only play once a week, with no UCL and League cup, they only have FA Cup and BPL. So they can keep using their starting 11 over and over without risk of them getting fatigue, and more time to recover from small injuries. Something like Liverpool last season.

I actually feel today's result would favour us, be it a draw or a win.

u kidding me, dortmund have their own injury problems. if anything both teams are handicapped, i am certainly hoping for a win. plus we play away too, we seem to enjoy playing outside of england in CL
*
Past 2 seasons we won in Germany away, hopefully a repeat. Somehow I feel confident we can win this one.
