I'll be moving to UTAR Sg Long soon to pursue my studies. Since I'm from penang and I'm not at all familiar with the places there, any good gym to recommend? It must be near the campus meaning it's in bandar sg long or at most, mahkota cheras.

I did a little search on google map (idk how accurate it is) and found Kaki gym, Average Joe gym, and Perfect fitness gym around the said area. Which one of them is better (availability of important eqps such as squat rack, crowdiness etc can be put into consideration when comparing)? If so, why? And is there any other option (hopefully not to far from that area though)?

Pls provide me with your thoughts! Thanks in advance!

I used to train at Average Joe a couple years ago. They've got decent equipment; squat rack, benches, machines, etc. Though their dumbbells only go to 25kg IINM.

I train at Final Gym in Mahkota Cheras when I'm home. There's more equipment there and dumbbells are as heavy as 135/140lbs. Price for students is 80/month.

The crowd will depend on what time you go. Generally, before 5pm most gyms are pretty much empty. It's after working hours that most people train.

I don't need such heavy DBs, I only use them for farmer's walk occasionally.
Is Final Gym near the campus anyways?

To walk, not really. It's in mahkota cheras so it's about a 5-10 minute drive away.

hi...
if you don't mind driving a bit, there is two to three new gym near Aeon Mahkota. i recently visitied Fysio Fitness that is next to Aeon Mahkota, that place looks pretty neat with classes and all the equipment is new too. There is another new gym around the corner as well but i forgot the name. have a look, plentiful of choices there.

there are like 5 to 6 gyms in mahkota cheras

and 2 i think, in sungai long.

Kaki Gym in mahkota cheras is underequipped, Final Gym, not bad, the 2 new gym opened at new shoplot near nando's is helluva expensive, and one of them forces you to take personal trainer

i'd say, just go up and have a look around all the gyms and survey to find the environment that you like
