guess they wanna stress test one server and see how far it can be pushed, if cannot bear the amount of incoming data they will probably open up few more servers
both the servers were down right after the update. now they are up again so we will see 3 servers instead of 1. the patch is to ensure that people from prohibited countries cannot play even if they obtained their beta keys from other users or fake ip.
