You only get more exp if you stay in the same screen and that mechanic is a bit screwy.
It depends on the mob level you are grinding, the people in your party and your level against the mobs and etc.
Try killing a mob with/without a party and you will see you gain more killing alone than inside a party of 5.
The only way partying up gives you more exp is the rate of you clearing the mobs before the next spawn is fast enough and the spawn rate is good enough like 10 every 15 sec?
If your party cant kill faster than the spawn rate you are actually gaining less exp than some dude who solo.
and
You gain more exp soloing and overkilling the mob.
Of course there are certain criteria to be met when partying, which is level difference penalty to avoid powerleveling. This is to be expected.
This becomes a problem when you are farming at a low spawn rate mob area or a map that is congested by player. I am well aware of this problem, developer needs step their game up by increasing the mob spawn rate on other map instead of focusing on popular grinding map such as masou, mage tower & demon prison and to increase the amount of channel to accommodate the ever increasing player.
