we all know that different.musicians are preceived/dofferently by the general public, but which ones do you think gets the most respect?

and remember, im not talking about amomg musicians

I want to vote "orchestra", but it's not in the list.

And despite the note "obviously not guitar", nevertheless 28% (2 person) still voted guitar.

lol i picked piano........looks like many share my views as well, it always facinated me till today hopefully 1 day i will get to learn it

For me: Violin! So difficult to play well
For most people: Drums! Nampak macam terror during band shows, compared to other musicians. Even guitar solo berapa hebat pun cannot fight drummer.

How do one "respect" an instrument???

Either way this kind of generalisation does not fare well to me.

I respect all music instruments....because each of them is unique...but my favorite is electric guitar, followed by piano.

But for the answer to the question, it's probably piano....

Why? Because grand piano has this vision of grandness i suppose...which is why it's called a grand piano...

probably also bcoz the scene/event at where the pianists usually play conveys the image of grandness..

plus with their gentleman uniforms.

So he's coming to dinner tonight, he turns to you and ask "should I say I'm a drummer, guitarist, pianist, or conductor?". Which one is going to impress them most?

it's either piano, violin or guitar as usually most musicians can play song with just that one particular instrument..

the most underrated instrument that get least respect is ukulele!

from general public pov, maybe the rock/trash/metal genre that give the guitar some rebellious image, unless u r playing blues/jazz..

Too small....size does matter.

But it depends lor...anyone here listen to the J-rock band X-Japan....the band leader, Yoshiki is a classical pianist...but plays rock music..LOL.

Really breaks the conventional pianist image.

then it's so sad the current stigma is more to the type of music u should play with certain instrument.

for me, i respect most of them (perhaps minus ukelele ) coz to truly master a musical instrument take passion/dedication of a lifetime.

Usually musicians don't earn a lot...it's the STARS that earns the big bucks...pop-idols...sad but true.

Wanted to vote vocals but no such option

Get the most chills when hearing a fantastic singer.

vocals cannot lorh... technically not an instrument.

Vocals is not an instrument.....no vocalist can beat a good solo by a musician. Singing is just one tone at any time...boring single channel..

Play ukulele before, the sound too weak, not fun wan.

not really la.. coz u haven't really learn more deep.. this one play in acoustic without any electrical help.. check out 2nd half, power or not?

I remember back in 1999, on tv, dont remember what program, but it was an interview with "JARI", malaysian saxaphone artist, they ask why choose saxaphone over other instruments, especially guitar.

The replied --> "too many guitarist in malaysia, market very packed, hard to survive. So I choose saxaphone, easier. People will look for you if they need sax. See now I'm on tv"

i think it's more to type of music played by the instrument. acoustic guitar u see is more acceptable, especially to old folks pov.
