QUOTE(zmarkeffendi @ Oct 9 2014, 04:01 PM) This is my first time of owning a device that have premium look.. So tempered glass is some kind that of hard plastic? You go buy a tempered glass and normal plastic protector of any phone models. 1st use your knife or sharp objects and scratch it, see which scratches 1st. then, use your hammer and hit both as hard as you can, see which breaks first. Then your answer is there.

QUOTE(lin00b @ Oct 10 2014, 12:30 AM) i was using iphone then switched to an AP snapdragon lenovo, but the usage experience was not as good. does that mean i prefer ios? or would a sony/samsung android give a better experience? this question, should ask yourself. all androids are roughly the same, despite certain manufacturers skinned it with their own UI.

QUOTE(jonoave @ Oct 10 2014, 05:14 PM) Would you mind stating which apps that are buggy for you? It could be just your selection of apps A study shows that apps actually crash much more often in iOS, just that iOS hides the crash by returning to homescreen immmediately. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2455622,00.aspI've not used Xperia Z3, but my Nexus 7 2013 running Kitkat 4.4 is smooth, no lag, very fast with 2 gb ram and 1.5 quad-core Tegra. Since Sony's UI sticks close to the vanilla Android, I don't expect much lag. I also read that most users of Z3 here state that it's smooth and fluid. Personally, I think Android is easier to navigate. With the back button, home, and recent apps/settings I know what to do. With a single home button on the iPhone, if I'm in the middle of an app and want to go back to a previous page/settings, what do I do? Sony's UI actually is very smooth regardless low or high-end components but with wrong or poor optimization, it will cause lag. However, since Sony's mid range phones also perform smooth and flawless, I assume their system has been stable since then. So if customers or friends bullshit me how lag Sony's UI is and praise other manufacturers, troll is ready.

QUOTE(jonoave @ Oct 10 2014, 06:25 PM) Well in all honesty, my Xperia S does lag quite a bit compared to when I first got it. I strongly suspect that's because of RAM, since it only has 1 gb RAM and stuck on Jelly bean 4.1.2 (last update by Sony, don't intent to root it). Looking at memory usage, Swiftkey and the notification bar app takes up quite a bit of RAM. If I'm running certain games, it will hog up the RAM and cause other apps in the background to close. And I get the the "Unfortunately, Maps has quit" notifications quite often. Running the same game, with Swiftkey etc on my Nexus 7 2013 is no problem. Even then I see the RAM usage approaching almost 700-800 MB, so without Svelte optimisation and only 1 GB RAM it's little wonder lag happens. That's why i'm looking forward to upgrade to an XperiaZ3 (or maybe Z2, depending on the price difference). that was the era when iFans still like to refer android as laggy piece of shit. now we are in kitkat era. heck, i can ask them back, 'did you just mentioned lag? what era are you in now?'

QUOTE(WhitE LighteR @ Oct 15 2014, 10:45 AM) As long as you dont crack or chip the glass its ok. In my experience tempered glass are more forgiving to re-application compare to plastic screen protectors. plastic screen protectors you need to be very very gentle not to make it even a little bit out of shape. Once out of it flat shape the plastic screen protector will have bubble already. Even when done with a tape will still have 50% chance of that happening. Tempered glass problem is that you cant use tape to redo it because it attach really really well to the glass. So i uses something with a very sharp point and gently lift it up. Just need to make sure you dont chip. Then gently lift it up to avoid cracks because tempered glass can also be quite fragile if you apply bending forces to it. They are only strong against compression force. my experience in applying tempered glass is use nail (not too long, not too short) to lift the glass is better than sharp objects. sharp objects like paper knife will damage the adhesive layer of the glass, resulting in chip or bubbling at the area.
