QUOTE(three2wan @ Sep 13 2014, 10:09 AM) I'm glad that LvG is being honest to the players. Being home grown from the youth academy and breaking into the first team does not mean you will automatically stay there, you need to earn that spot. No such sentimentality from LvG with regards to Cleverley and Welbeck |

QUOTE The point was even made that Cleverley's opening 45 minutes for Villa had been more impactful than that of £25 million Liverpool debutant Lallana ![]() QUOTE With a WhoScored rating of 6.82, Cleverley was Villa's seventh best performer on the night out of the 14 Villans that took to the pitch. More telling than this however, is that his rating was higher than that of opposition players including Steven Gerrard, Coutinho and Lallana. How Manchester United became quite frightening again
A decent article and also good for a lol ![]() QUOTE This is basically a 2-3-2-3, a fancy version of the WM formation that teams used to use before World War Two. Van Gaal is using history to make United seem innovative. Sort of like how Apple are pretending that watches are a new thing. And just like Van Gaal’s tactics, once all the bugs are worked out and the battery life is decent it’ll probably actually be pretty good. ![]() QUOTE In my lovely eyes, Daley Blind made the biggest difference for United. His role as the anchorman just in front of the defence saw him act as a third defender and a third midfielder at the same time. THE SAME TIME. His position meant that he was always available for a pass, and always in the right place to clear up any mistakes or loose passes. The stability in the team this brings is enormous. If you ever play 5-a-side, which I do badly, you’ll notice that the team who wins usually has the best defender – or at least one guy who’s always available at the back. The strangest thing about it is this player has a massive impact over the game without even touching the ball. By filling the gaps where players would like to run into, opponents don’t pass the ball there. By simply standing in a place that player eliminates the danger completely and is also in a position to receive a pass if a teammate runs into trouble. For United, Blind was always in space. His time spent on the ball was minimal but as soon as a defender moved forward he assumed that position, and when they moved forward he acted as a middleman for the wide players to return to. He could prove to be the silent hero for Louis Van Gaal this year. |

#hasdannywelbeckscoredforarsenalyet
QUOTE Welbeck has to be more clinical in front of goal Arsenal carved out two clear opportunities for Danny Welbeck and the £16m man’s finishing was so inept that one effort was off target and the other did not even register with Uefa statisticians as an attempt on goal. Manchester United’s manager, Louis van Gaal, was damning in his analysis of the 23-year-old’s goal record and on nights like this when chances are all too rare – he missed a third after the interval – Welbeck needs to develop a ruthless streak if he is to banish doubts about his ability at the highest level. The same can be said of Olivier Giroud, ironically, and Welbeck must prove himself a conclusive upgrade. sos black pepper inb4 he has not gelled inb4 he needs more time |

QUOTE(onepack @ Sep 18 2014, 07:03 PM) no doubt blind look so good and promising.. calm, good reader of game, smart, versatile, hold the ball well, handsome etc but its only been 1 game. intime opponent will realise his role and start pressing him more.. much aggrasive players and stronger/attacking side will be the real test for him Astute epl managers will immediately realize Blind's ability and may be put a striker to man mark him.See what Agbonlahor did to Gerrard last weekend, Gerrard had the lowest number of passes in 2 seasons as highlighted by GNev: (from 3:45 onwards, just ignore the babbling by Carragher lol) |

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left Cardiff
Sad. He had so much potential. QUOTE Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left the club after less than nine months in charge. The announcement was made after Solskjaer, 41, held talks with chairman Mehmet Dalman. The Bluebirds are 17th in the Championship after three losses in seven games, including Tuesday's 1-0 home defeat by Middlesbrough and a 4-2 capitulation against Norwich. Solskjaer succeeded Malky Mackay on 2 January, 2014. Before the announcement was made, BBC Scotland reported that Dundee boss Paul Hartley had rejected the possibility of succeeding Solskjaer. The former Manchester United striker failed to save City from Premier League relegation. |
