Question here is this, do the players have the intelligence to play that type of football. In barca they have been trained since young, passing, positioning, vision. Like Klose said he found it extremely difficult to play under van gaal because he is simply a specialist not a player with vision, excellent positioning, making intelligent runs and passing abilities.

I see the end goal of van gaal but there are not many players with these abilities

carrick, rooney, falcao, maria. Mata/januzaj/herrera will definitely need time but how much time before they gel as a team and have really good chemistry. I think United have always been specialist with chemistry. Van Gaal is more of trying to impose a intelligent chemistry before fitting the specialist roles in, specialist players like fletcher and even defenders are going to suffer.

Defenders wise too they would need more of ferdinand ball playing defender as opposed to a terry type specialist but will that bring about weaknesses in set pieces etc?
