The gun recoil energy will be transferred to the baseplate and ground.

Instead of the gun recoil energy goes to the truck chassis and also for stability reasons like previous posters have mentioned.

HTH.

Australian Army launches next generation uniform
23 September 2014 Tuesday

The Assistant Minister for Defence, Stuart Robert and Chief of Army, Lieutenant General David Morrison, AO, today launched the Australian Multicam Camouflage Uniform (AMCU) at the Chief of Army’s Exercise in Brisbane.

After 13 years of continuous operations and observations of Army uniforms in harsh environments, as well as from a continuous cycle of developing and testing equipment in the field; Defence has developed the next generation of Army uniforms for use domestically and overseas.

Mr Robert said the AMCU, which will begin to be rolled out across the Army from October, is manufactured in Australia by Australian companies.

“Defence is pleased to partner with Australian companies to manufacture the AMCU. I am confident the manufacturing of the AMCU in Australia not only supports local business, but also maintains high standards and keeps pace with current technology,” Mr Robert said.

“At the moment there are two manufacturers for the AMCU – Australian Defence Apparel (ADA) and Pacific Brands Workwear Group (PBWG).”

Lieutenant General Morrison said the AMCU represents the next generation of field and combat uniforms for our soldiers.

“Improvements to the design of the uniform will enhance a soldier’s survivability and mobility and efficiently support a soldier’s workload while still being functional in a variety of terrains and operating environments,” Lieutenant General Morrison said.

“For the first time, Army will introduce two separate uniforms. Both the AMCU field and combat variations use a tested Australian Multi-Camouflage Pattern that will take our soldiers from the bush, to the desert and into the jungle.”

The current issued Disruptive Pattern Camouflage Uniform and Australian Multicam Pattern Operational Combat Uniform will continue to be worn until all Army personnel have been issued with the AMCU.

If there is a need for PERSEC, the official FB sources would have masked the faces.

Now the ordinary users are talking about PERSEC and masking the faces from the official photos by themselves.

Actually, you are not supposed to alter the official photos.

Hopefully the RMAF A400M will make an appearance at the 2015 LIMA.

I'm like 50/ 50 whether to come down for the 2015 LIMA as there is still no news of what aircrafts will make an appearance.

Happy Deepavali to all in Lowyat.

QUOTE(James831 @ Oct 22 2014, 12:27 AM)
perhaps they should build AV8 variants batch by batch.
1st batch 3-4 variants build at one time.

when will RMAF receive A400m? 1st quater of 2015?

Shanghai shipyard 'to build second Chinese designed aircraft carrier'
By Minnie Chan | 22 October 2014 Wednesday | 8:24am

Work on China's secondlocally designed and built aircraft carrier will soon get under way at Jiangnan Shipyard, overseas reports says

China will soon start building its second locally designed aircraft carrier in Shanghai, according to a Canadian report.

Kanwa Asian Defence, an English-language monthly defence review produced in Toronto, said Shanghai's Jiangnan Shipyard was preparing to start work on the carrier.

When completed, the carrier and another under construction in Dalian will give the PLA Navy two fully functioning, battle-ready aircraft carriers.

The recently completed Liaoning, the refitted former Soviet carrier Varyag, is classed as a training platform, not a full combat vessel, by the navy, since it went into service in September 2012.

Counter to many expectations, the new carrier about to be built at the Jiangnan Shipyard will use conventional, not nuclear power.

The report was also carried in the Chinese-language sister publication, Kanwa Defence Review.

Military experts said China would not attempt a nuclear-powered carrier until a range of issues were resolved, such as the reliability of nuclear-powered engines, crew training and establishing a reliable home port for carrier maintenance.

According to the report, Chinese shipbuilding industry sources said the design for the second carrier had not been completed.

The Kanwa report countered earlier predictions by Western analysts that the new carrier would be nuclear-powered, like the planned Soviet Ulyanovsk-class carrier.

The Ulyanovsk was slated to be Moscow's first nuclear-powered supercarrier, with an 85,000-tonne displacement. But like the Varyag, the ship was never completed and the hull was scrapped in 1992.

Last year, China Shipbuilding Industry Corp, the largest state-owned shipbuilder, said Beijing had approved funding to develop core technology for nuclear-powered ships, which to many observers indicated plans to build nuclear-powered carriers.

Li Jie , a military expert in Beijing, said China already had experience with maritime nuclear power, but so far the technology was restricted to the PLA's growing submarine fleet.

"Compared with submarines, a carrier is much bigger. It will take time for our nuclear engineers to develop a safe and powerful engine capable of driving a huge platform of more than 100,000 tonnes," Li said.

The first locally designed carrier is being built in Dalian, where the Liaoning was completed in a decade-long fit-out.

The Dalian Shipyard completed the new carrier's steel plate cutting ceremony at the end of last year.

Special Operations Command briefings and demonstrations at G20
11 November 2014 Tuesday

Special Operations Command hosted a delegation from the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting - Plus (ADMM+) Experts' Working Group on Counter-Terrorism from the 28th to the 29th of October where they participated in a series of briefings and demonstrations related to Australia's Whole of Government preparations for the G20 Summit.

Delegates from Singapore, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar, New Zealand, Russia, and Thailand were invited to meet soldiers from the 2nd Commando Regiment at the Port of Brisbane, where they got a hands-on demonstration of equipment being used throughout the G20 Summit and watched a dynamic demonstration of the security capability provided in support of the Queensland Police Service.

Other ADF elements were faced with several security scenarios over the period of 28th to 30th of October in order to test command and control systems ahead of the G20 Summit in November.

The scenarios involved fictitious threats from the land, the sea and the air and included Defence elements in both Brisbane and in Canberra.

Approximately 2000 Defence personnel are contributing to the ADF’s support to the G20 Summit, including personnel from the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force. ADF force elements include clearance divers, pilots, explosive ordnance detection dogs and members of Special Operations Command.
