they have vast resources, infrastructures, proper machinery  and manpower

as u can observe, we have our own local defense industry..but very2 few..
we have build AV-8, Taming Sari guided-munition, VB Berapi, Handalan trucks, and few mores..
so yes, we can build our own things as we have sufficient resource and tech to do like what Indo does (small boats, armored vehicles, rifles, etc)
but we're still far away from building our own tanks, jets, submarines, radars, avionics and other high-tech/sophisticated military hardware tho..
..Indo have gone so far to joint-develop KIFX stealth jet   
China has offered us some deals in previous years (i read in some Perajurit and Tempur Magazines) which i say were pretty cool deal for the price and tech
maybe Mindef still didn't trust the capabilities of PRC's hardwares
