are they actually using Zram?

update: It's confirmed that version 41.1 is using zRAM instead of the old swap method.

At first I believed those who said it uses internal memory. Then I thought about what imbibug said here. So I went research a little, stumble on zRAM. I'm also learning each day about android. So it says, zRAM uses system RAM, and the old way of swap use either internal or external sdcard( usually external, as what imbibug said you don't want the phone to become a piece of useless brick one day if it's internal memory).

But there's a downside to this... it will consume more CPU power for the compression process. Not sure what the devs have done to minimize this effect. I've seen the CPU running at 700+Mhz for certain things ( which I didn't see on the previous versions)... so there's a different CPU usage pattern there.

From the screenshot above, I assume block size is the 599MB, isn't it? If it exceeds the block size, will it start killing/closing apps to free up RAM or use the remaining RAM that is not in the 'block'. Sorry if it sounds silly tongue.gif
