Hyundai Sonata 2.0 GLS (A) -04
Advertised by KS Loo Automobile
RM 14 800

If I'm not mistaken the Hyundai Sonata when brand new is more than RM100k. Since this ad is from a 2nd hand car dealer, the owner must have traded in the car to the dealer for about RM9k or less. 2nd hand car dealers usually will make a profit of at least RM5k from any transaction. Such an incredibly high depreciation for a 2004 year Sonata suggests that nobody wants it. It should be laden with reliability problems with difficult to source spare parts.

I believe a 2004 year Proton model may even fetch higher price than this Hyundai and WILL be a better bet with higher reliability. Waja, Persona etc. Spare parts abundance in the market at cheap prices.

Very comfortable car. Take a ride, you will love it.

Trouble depends on previous owner's maintenance. It is a pump petrol & go car. Problem free car.

As an owner of a 2002 kimchi, I can tell you there's nothing to shout about this car...

The G4JP engine is basically a detuned copycat of Mitsu's 4g63 powerplant. So if engine die liao, you can prolly transplant. Reliability wise, depends on how the previous owner treats it.

NVH, pretty poor but suspension's decent imo.

The only problem I encountered so far is the electronics... Had a speed sensor die on me, making the gearbox stuck on 3rd gear.

You can check here for some of my old posts...

I suggest if you can take it for a test drive, do it. Otherwise, you can't really know for sure on how it is.

Pretty much like Lil mentioned, if the car been taken care well, I dont see it a problem as well. Being a Optima 2007 owner, I could say, parts are easy to get, for a D segment, they are pretty cheap. There are couple of korean parts seller in LYN as well, you could check the pricing with them to compare.

I would recommend to look at optima as well. It looks more sportier, sunroof and some accessories.
The mileage I get is around 10-13km/l (depending on city/highway)

The Sonata original price is RM130k+ in 2004. Now it is selling at RM14k. Something fishy. And bearing in mind this is from 2nd hand dealer. The original owner of the car may have sold it to the dealer for 7k to 8k only. Anybody with a clear mind would stay away.

The resale of the Koreans is surely down the drain. Even worse than Proton or Perodua.
