Is "Milky Way" some secret code word I don't understand? I don't get the meaning.

I heard Mersing is good. You could try sabah mt kinabalu park. It is high and clear from air and light pollution.

The name of our galaxy, in which our solar system is located, is Milky Way.
This is because our galaxy is spiral flat shaped, so you'll see a 'way' or band of stars across the sky at night

I recommend an app like the Star Rover.
Can accurately pinpoint where is the Milky Way on the night sky with your phone's accelerometer and GPS.

As for light pollution, as long as it's a clear day, don't worry about it. Use ETTR (expose to the right) method.

That's what I thought. It was what made me all rclxub.gif . Secret location? There's no secret location. The problem is, you can't see it if you live in an urban area. I've never seen it since my father drag the whole family to KL, and here we've stayed. Most nights, can't even see a single star.

Hmm ... that reminds me. Back when I was in secondary school, I dreamt of getting a telescope and camera ... but kind of forgot about it so many decades past. Now that I have SLRs ... hmmm ... hope it doesn't rain tonight. And pray for no clouds. smile.gif

"Secret location" is an exaggeration sweat.gif

"Most nights, can't even see a single star."
-yup, that's why I'm looking for a place where people do actually see stars.

Just hop in your car and drive away from the city. Do you live in the Klang Valley?

Try east coast, that side have much fewer cities compare to west coast. I've seen it a few time at Johor Desaru area

Can't shoot for too long too as you'll get trails then.

That's where large aperture and high ISO comes in handy!
