Is "Milky Way" some secret code word I don't understand? I don't get the meaning.

QUOTE(dkk @ Aug 29 2014, 12:50 PM) The name of our galaxy, in which our solar system is located, is Milky Way.This is because our galaxy is spiral flat shaped, so you'll see a 'way' or band of stars across the sky at night This post has been edited by ragnarokB2: Aug 29 2014, 04:56 PM |

QUOTE(eddydo @ Aug 29 2014, 11:24 AM) I recommend an app like the Star Rover. Can accurately pinpoint where is the Milky Way on the night sky with your phone's accelerometer and GPS. As for light pollution, as long as it's a clear day, don't worry about it. Use ETTR (expose to the right) method. |

QUOTE(LegendLee @ Aug 29 2014, 04:35 PM) I recommend an app like the Star Rover. Hmm ... that reminds me. Back when I was in secondary school, I dreamt of getting a telescope and camera ... but kind of forgot about it so many decades past. Now that I have SLRs ... hmmm ... hope it doesn't rain tonight. And pray for no clouds. Can accurately pinpoint where is the Milky Way on the night sky with your phone's accelerometer and GPS. As for light pollution, as long as it's a clear day, don't worry about it. Use ETTR (expose to the right) method. This post has been edited by dkk: Aug 29 2014, 06:46 PM |

It was what made me all "Secret location" is an exaggeration "Most nights, can't even see a single star." -yup, that's why I'm looking for a place where people do actually see stars. |
