Sifu, Need your advise on Sonax bsd. Just pirchase the product along with the rim coating. The sales person said that the bsd are actually a sealant & must be apply 1st before the wax.
As i have readed from this forum that most (if not all) of you will use this bsd as a lsp after the waxing. So what are the acual steps on this bsd ? I've use the rim coating & found it not as effective as describe, the wheel are as dirty with or without the rim coating. I applied 50% (half of the rim) for comparison & find no difference of brake dust sticking on it or when i spray water to the rim just to check if will come off easily, to my disappointment it looks the same. Fyi i wash & clay the rim before i apply the rim coating. Any one use their rim coating before? How the outcome? Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Nov 2 2015, 12:16 PM) Sonax BSD - Brilliant Shine Detailer. By it's namesake, it is a 'detailer' - intended use is for light cleaning of paint surface whilst leaving some protection behind. But from my (few years of) usage, I find that the protection it left behind is very decent indeed and can rival some normal waxes/sealants. Great product the BSD. I would say it can be used as a stand-alone (without putting anything else on top or without any other wax/sealant at the bottom) protection. But using the BSD before waxing....well....personally I wouldn't recommend that. Best if you use it on top of a good quality wax/sealant instead of the other way around. That is what i'm thinking detailer just like Meguire UQD but was told by sonax staff it's better to use it before wax. Now, for the rim coating...that's a different story. Bought one can and, like you, couldn't be bothered and won't be getting it again. I'd rather use the BSD (far easier and faster to apply) or some other spray sealants.... Will definitely try using it after wax, just like most of you here in the forum. Will give this coating a last try with bsd (Jason's idea) because it still has a lots left and see if it will make the 1mth mark but then most of you guys have tried right? Thanks sifu KrisMas for your wise knowledge. |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Nov 2 2015, 11:59 AM) my personal preference is bsd as last. Appreciate your feedback sifu Quazacolt So by topping with bsd it helps slightly, might try it.wax also depending on what you use, but bsd is very versatile that you can do it before wax. feel free to explore and find out what works for you. just as a reminder, lsp = last step protection that includes wax and isn't really specifically towards the exact last step, eg: toppers such as bsd. personal experience on sonax rim coating is that the durability isn't good, even after topping the rim coating with sonax bsd lol (still dies within 2-3 weeks, at most a month ish) then again i use a LOT (3 set front 1 set rear within 1+ year/30k+ km? lol) of brakes so... it does however make wheels easier to clean so it does serve some purpose. have you purchased the rim coating and the wheel cleaner package? (i believe your screenshot is the wheel cleaner right?) is this the neon yellow version that smells horrible and turn red/dark as it is taking effect? I need to clean the wheels again as it has been 1mth ago since the last wheel coating. Do i need to do all the process again, wheel cleaner, wash, clay, wash, wheel coating then bsd? How long do i need to wait between wheel coating and bsd? Yeah bought the package(cleaner & coating) from Subang jaya Hq. You are right the screenshot was just the cleaner. The coating come in a spray can. Is not neon yellow, more like creamy white but it sure smell like a egg fart |

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Feb 18 2016, 08:52 AM) Small tip for using DPD for cleaning foam pads. Dilute it 1:1 (1 part DPD with 1 part distilled water) in a sprayer bottle. DPD is a little thick/concentrated and quite strong. It's quite effective even at that dilution. Thanks,Sifu Krismas any other applications for this DPD other than cleaning pads/mf |

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Feb 18 2016, 12:13 PM) Detailing wise...just for cleaning waxes/sealants from FOAM pads (doesn't work as good on microfiber pads). I don't use it for anything else as it's a very harsh and powerful chemical mix. Learn good tips from you every time. Appreciate.Non-detailing wise, it's also no 1 on my list for cleaning *very* stubborn grease and those caked-in grease and burnt-on food on BBQ grills, oven, cooktop, bottom of frying pan, etc., better than those foaming oven cleaner Any TT session soon? It had been quite sometime ago since it was last held, which i missed. My white ride need pampering, since I've neglected more than 6 months. Pls advise if any TT session coming. Thanks in advance. |

So if time permit, will travel great lenght to learn from all sifus the tips and trick of detailing. Since it is just after the Christmas, 2016NewYear and CNY looong holidays and all the excitement/hectic schedules coming to an ending, so TT session will be a grear time |
