QUOTE(@skyhawk@ @ Jul 13 2015, 06:39 AM) can DIY...hmmm try carpro spotless. Removes hard mineral stains easily.else if you are looking for home remedy, try vinegar. mixing ratio 1:1. Use the dishwasher sponge (the green side), scrub. rinse throughly. make sure it doesn't get to your paintwork. |

QUOTE(lynmz @ Jul 29 2015, 12:29 PM) Hi guys..just looked passed through a couple pages back, and not sure if this is the right section to ask as seems like most, if not all here are doing it by themselves. I would like to wash+polish/wax my car and i intend to send it to a proper shop as i do not have the tools nor products to do it myself. DIY is always cheaper, the amount you pay would have gotten you an entire bottle of product which you wouldn't even finish at a go.Any recommended shops in Ampang or Cheras area that any sifus could recommend to me?not looking for premium thousands RM coating services, but a mere simple wax will do. Seeking for directions and would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! I recommend self claying, send to shop for polishing to circumvent your lack of resources and purchase a wax of your own and apply it yourself. Reason being - waxing may cost you 80-100, and that alone can get you a synthetic wax which could probably last longer than their wax, and you still have remnants for later usage. Not recommended to go for water wax and equivalent, those only last like 1 -2 weeks. pathetic. worst of all, they charge RM 80 near my area. But if you insist, make sure they include claying...usually many that i do know of, basic package does not include claying. Unless you opt for their coating packages which cost easily 1k+ |

QUOTE(triplerotor @ Aug 3 2015, 11:35 PM) i want to restore my paint which neglected for 1year plus n protect the wax for atleast 6months. or im i too generous in number? lol synthetic. carnauba 3 weeks kaput. weird cause side doors always last longer than bonnet and boot even with proper preparation.being a white car so i didnt really expect a deep gloss shine just ok2 shine will do. should i opt for carnauba or synthetic?. i stumbled upon turtle wax platinum xtra gloss which acts like a sealant.anyone evdr used it. anyone knows any other reasonable price sealant? sorry i ask too many questions. googling seems to get distorted answer synthetic last longer, carnauba gives better shine. turtle wax ice shine lock sealant claims up to 1 year. Never use before but reviews are saying 8 months is achievable. most important is to surface prep prior to applying wax/sealant. |

QUOTE(triplerotor @ Aug 4 2015, 02:22 PM) bonnet, roof and boot always exposed more than the door right. even my car the boonet looks dull but the door still have abit shine. https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3588318any other reasonably priced sealant on the market? manage to only find turtle wax ice sealant. meguiars one I cant find selling in msia. anyone got lubang? carpro hydro lite. spray on and rinse off. Easy peasy. Applying wax is a pain in the arse. Should last around 2 months? Application is convenient. I just got my reload, can't wait to try that this weekend |

QUOTE(triplerotor @ Aug 6 2015, 12:19 AM) I plan to detail my car over the weekend to, but the weather doesnt look too promising this week. can be topped with another layer of wax.The car-pro sealant lasts about 2months? And that can be topped with other wax right? After more reading i realize the pad got different type too. Cutting polish etc2 pad.? I bought meguiars pad, yellow color. Can it be use to polish? Frankly i won't la, this application is so easy. Spray on wet car, rinse. finish. or for better durability, use damped mf cloth to wipe over, rinse. for cutting or compounding, yes yellow color meguiars can be used. depending on severity, sometimes you would need red pad for more cutting. |

What is the difference between masking tape and painter's tape.
Went to the hardware shop and asked for painters tape, he showed me masking tape. He ensured me that painters use this paint to cover the edges. ??? I'm confused. Can anyone enlighten me on this? TIA |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Sep 22 2015, 02:59 PM) good/expensive painter's tape from 3M will leave minimal to no glue residue. So there's only 3M quality painter tape? It's pretty hard to source in my opinionimagine having to deal with glue residue stuck on your car after you dont your polishing. nightmarish isnt it? Any other brands or perhaps pointers to obtain this 3m painter's tape? |

QUOTE(N33d @ Nov 17 2015, 09:17 AM) i use meg GC with clay, not working effectively. that detergent dried up easily and glide lesser . some more left many soap residue that made the whole thing looked messy. now i using ONR as clay lube. so far so good. QUOTE(g88 @ Nov 17 2015, 09:29 AM) I've tried lubing with meg gc shampoo too. feel rough and lack in lubricity. More over, the residue is indeed leaving streak marks. |

QUOTE(stevenng97 @ Nov 17 2015, 11:13 AM) Guys recently i wan to buy the 3m clay but i heard there are a lot of fake or original about this 3M clay may i know how to identify ? about this brand ? get perma glass. it's slightly more valuable than 3m because it comes with quick detailer. and compared to 3m this is slightly less abrasive. Highly recommended. 3m too many fakes. I only use 3m to clay my rims. |

QUOTE(N33d @ Nov 18 2015, 02:07 PM) sifu, Can you share your experience on your tank wax? It's currently next in line for my purchase. Once i'm done with my current wax.thinking of getting a durable spray 'wax' to top over my tank wax 476s. between BSD and OCW, which one is a better product in term of durability and protection.. welcoming other recommendation too. good then could not find any ice series in tesco around png only see them at jusco. some more very limited application by hand, any thoughts? |

QUOTE(frozen7 @ Nov 24 2015, 08:13 PM) Sifu, where to get grit guard other than from Osren? And what should be the reasonable price for this item? got mine from autogeek.com.my for less than Rm 50. That was the pricing back then. I often check autogeek and motormadmalaysia for discounts and promotions.Taobao only! Way cheaper. It shouldn't make too much of a difference as imho, grit guard is good for grainy particles that would sink below bucket only. Those that floats....hmmm..careful la |

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Dec 1 2015, 09:07 AM) Yeah...for the Bosch, I like using the 5" ~ 5.5" pads too. But unfortunately Meguiars doesn't make 5.5" pads. The older version of their Soft Buff pads (W7006, W8006, W9006) are 6.5" and the one in current production the Soft Buff 2.0 pads are 7". If you're looking for 5.5" pads you'd need to look for other brands like Lake Country, Buff and Shine, 3M or Sonax. I kinda like the ones from Sonax cuz the foam are stiffer and more suitable for DA/Orbital machine use. There may be others but these are the ones that I know selling in Malaysia. You can try searching online for them. + gst = RM933The *around* RM500 machine I was talking about is a knock-off of the Ultramate (from Osren) or DAS 6 DA polisher that I had the opportunity to try. It's quite a decent machine (for a knock-off) and good enough for personal (DIY) use. I think somebody here bought it before...maybe the owner could chime in. Ultramate (which is the equivalent of DAS-6 Pro), if I'm not mistaken is selling for close to RM700 at Osren (Please somebody do correct me if I'm wrong cuz I haven't been 'window shopping' for detailing products for a while now). Price might have revised since this was so long ago. If it's within 700 i would have gotten it. Attached thumbnail(s) |
