It is easy : someone who is backed up by religion, conservatism & old thinkings (wacky angel) doesn't have to explain his position, his ideas. They just make the one who does have pre-marital sex (or which is not against it) feel GUILTY. Guilt is the critical point of premarital sex.

You do it ? you should feel guilty.
You don't feel guilty about it ? you should feel guilty too.

Sex is fun, sex is enjoyable, sex is part of nature, and you do it as long as it doesn't kill you or ruin your life (by pregnancy, reputation, etc.). For instance, if you're a believer, having pre-mat sex will ruin your life (by guilt)..

Sex should be considered with respect and maturity, but it shouldn't represent DEVIL and HELL and WEAKNESS and GUILT. That's absurd to want to force this image down in people's guts.
