1. Needs macro? (If yes then no need to answer the rest, just get what on your list)
2. Full Size (104-key)? or TKL?
3. Needs LED?
4. Pure typing? Gaming?
5. Maximum budget?
6. Actuation force? (Need to use more force or not to press a key)

If you enter MKB, us here is not gaming centric, most of us is gamer though we don't (really) recommend gaming branded MKB.
Most recommended OEM is Filco. TKL, Full size available. Simple, plain, no macro, no LED, no media keys, no extra features. Just one word, keyboard.
Needs LED? Ducky Shine, extra LED features, some media keys.
Needs more features? Cooler Master Rapid-i, fancy LED features, lots of media keys, only TKL size.

Budget for Filco is pretty standard, RM369 for TKL, RM399 for Full size.
Ducky Shine starts from RM3xx to RM4xx depends on the version, edition and size.
Cooler Master Rapid-i if not mistaken is RM399? (Correct me)

Either one can use for gaming, and depends on the switches you choose, it's either:
Lightest: MX Red
Middle ground: MX Brown
Slightly heavier: MX Blue
Much heavier: MX Black
Please have a look at first page for more detail on the switches.

There're more to the list, but those are most recommended in this thread.

hi master,
thanks for the reply.

1) not necessaries.
2) yes full size, need numpad.
3) would be best if have. single color led would do.
4) Typing and gaming 70/30
5) my target is g710+, so my budget is max RM399
6) no idea rclxub.gif

newbie here, will be buying very first expensive machanical keyboard rclxm9.gif

interested in g710+ is because:
-survive in the video of being ran over by a tank!
-comes with media key:pause,mute,volume adjust

thanks.

If you are typing/gaming in an environment where you are constantly being run over by a tank, I would seriously consider re-evaluating my priorities in life, vis-a-vis, not working/playing games in a warzone.

In the meantime, if you still insist on buying the product that you so believe in even after we advise you otherwise, please, go ahead and do so because it's your money and not mine and I'm not your mother so I will never tell you what to buy.

On the other hand, I will laugh at your wasted money.

tl-dr; Ducky Shine 3

From your "needs", and from recommendation from this thread.

- CM Storm QuickFire Rapid-i <-- coz not Full-layout
- Ducky Shine Zero (Recommended, fullfil your needs, has single color LED, media keys and can be ran over by a tank, within budget)
- Filco Majestouch 2 <-- coz no LED, no media keys, many features also don't have

Ducky Shine Zero w/ LED still cheaper than Logitech g710+. So, you may save some costs purchase Ducky over Logitech.
Ducky is a good brand for entry level.  thumbup.gif

5 years you say?

"know yourself; know your enemy. 100 battles; 100 victories" - some Chinese general dude.

So the points of failure for an MKB would be:
1. USB connection
2. LEDs
3. Keycaps
4. PCB
5. Switches

Wait, wha-?

So, you'd want a keyboard with a solid USB connection, no LEDs, PBT doubleshot keycaps (or Dyesub), reputable dual-layer PCB, and original Cherry switches.

All signs point to the Ducky Premier.

But hear me out. Smack the kids in your house and ask them to stop running around like idiots and breaking stuff. My nephew knows enough that any area around my workspace and my computer are NO GO ZONES unless specifically invited otherwise. That's why he has the run of the house when he visits and I don't have to supervise him all the time because he knows that certain areas must never be approached without my EXPRESS approval.

So, my solution is this: smack the kids and tell them to stop playing around your expensive toys (heck, that's why my nephew isn't allowed to play with my quadrocopter, no matter how cool it is) and buy a Ducky.

tl-dr: ducky.

If you need the keyboard only, why not ask the seller for promo, deduct the mouse price.
This keyboard retails around RM 339.

It's not save RM150 at all. sad.gif

hmm, I am considering between Ducky zero and cm storm quick fire XT. The cm storm quick fire XT caught my attention is because of the detachable usb cable. hmm.gif

If you're going for Browns or Blues, Massdrop has a better deal i you.'re willing to go TKL

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/cooler-master-storm

Deal in total is about USD 86, and is definitely cheaper
