cleaned my ducky mkb doh.gif prepping for dragon age inquisition cause already sent pc for water cooling maintenance xd.

chiseled out the dirt and used vacuum cleaner. then use a cloth with detergent to lightly dab it out. put the keys in a bucket of water with detergent.

finished off with a light cleaning solution spray to kill off any lingering bacteria. lightly dried it off with a dry cloth then used a fan to dry it out. then don't dare plug it in for a few days until is completely dry tongue.gif

i didn't open the entire casing, only pulled the keycaps, because the last time i did this for my logitech g15 i ruined it xd.

mines an older ducky dk-9008g2 tiger limited edition. i'm pretty okay with it smile.gif

using custom cherry corp double shot, dye subs.... and geekhack signature plastic doubleshots. and custom escape key double shot.

it's not led lighted cept for the capslock, numlock and capslocks, because i prefer doubleshot/dye subs which have very nice contrast.

and is a cherry mx brown switch keyboard. i think spacebar uses a white or grey cherry mx switch, forgot which.

i tried reds, their very nice and easy to actuate.

but i felt brown is more suited for me because i tend to rest my finger tips on the keyboard from time to time. that would be problematic for a red because you can easily accidentally actuate reds.

the brown is tactile so has a feedback which along with the higher actuation force required is more balanced to avoid accidental actuations without making it uncomfortably so. for example i find blacks to be too excruciating for typing because it's way too hard to actuate comfortably when on a typing marathon. and on the other end of the spectrum, reds for being too light.

brown is best of both worlds for gaming and just leisurely typing.

Apart from the resting fingertips problem, does the red have any more disadvantages ? Because i'm currently stuck with a membrane keyboard and hoping to change to mech kb asap biggrin.gif

I play Dota 2 most of the time and some school work I guess but mostly gaming. Will the red do me good ?

My current kb is the CM Storm devastator and I don't really know the force requirement for the kb but I would prefer something lighter than this

is better you try in person. a lot of shops now stock up on mkb and many switches. try compare red and brown see which you prefer.

some people like blues for the clicky sound, but there are some gamer concerns for that switch in regards to quick double tapping.

other than the accident prone for reds, the only other thing i'd consider is if you think it's too light or not for your taste. because it's linear and has a light spring, it's very easy to actuate.

my own preferences wanted something slightly harder such as brown :}

MX Brown is already lighter than most rubber dome (Topre aside) and it's way easier to actuate even, I came from laptop scissors, and it's even harder to actuate than MX Brown, and the consistency from MX switch is way better, for Cherry anyway, didn't tried Kailh so no comment on that switch. sweat.gif

Just got a new Ducky Zero yesterday but the keycaps are all black now. Anybody selling a red Esc keycap? D: Can't seem to find any local seller selling one.
