Damn. After watching yesterday's game against Sunderland, 3 things are painfully obvious....
1) A defence comprising of Valencia, Jones, Smalling and Blackett is going to be smashed into pieces by ANY TEAM in the Premiership currently. We got Rojo and Shaw, but unfortunately they can't play.... now we need is Blind and De Jong. Get it done, Woodward!
2) Midfield of Cleverly + Fletcher? You got to be kidding me. OK, I understand the injuries, but come on... it is one of the WORST pairing at the moment. Sunderland was just plowing through them like they weren't there. And Young... sigh. Should have just started with Januzaj.....
Oh yeah, Di Maria = GET HIM. NOW!
3) Rooney = captain? Uh, no. RVP seemed better. And that's even after his WC adventure, he STILL did more than what Rooney had done the entire match.

QUOTE(tommyfai @ Sep 1 2014, 05:51 PM) falcao loan deal is surely expensive though.. hmm.. perhaps a replacement for RVP when he goes surgery ?? Now that begs the question.... we sell Welback and Chica, RVP might go under the knife soon.... so we are left with Rooney. With Falcao in, we are only still with 2 strikers for long periods of time.... is Woodward going to get one more striker in????

This transfer window is really crazy. In the space of one week we got Di Maria and Falcao. While last season we only got.... Fellaini just before the stroke of midnight.

QUOTE(jcksn81 @ Sep 2 2014, 08:17 AM) How on earth do we end up letting Welbeck, Hernandez and Kagawa go and end up keeping Anderson, Fellaini and Young? Fellaini was injured, and Young seemed much better (suddenly) under Van Gaal. Still can be used as backup players in case we have problems with the midfield. Anderson on the other hand.... there were talks of BURNLEY trying to sign him.... but even they washed their hands off eventually when they replayed the match against MU last week.....

QUOTE(chaiyya345 @ Sep 2 2014, 08:59 PM) wah... 1. Falcao 2. Di Maria 3. Rojo 4. Blind 5. Herrera 6. Shaw ... i doubt SAF would spend so much. LvG really into overhaul the whole squad. Uh..... he had to. The ONLY one player whom Fergie has signed in the past 3-4 years AND has the same quality with them is... Robin Van Persie.

QUOTE(likimikuku @ Sep 3 2014, 02:36 PM) read it in yahoo sport agree on this part » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Rooney to become a midfielder
Alternatively, with the search for an alternative to Kevin Strootman having so far failed to find a suitable proxy for the injured Roma star —widely assumed to be the midfielder Van Gaal wants above any others— change may be afoot for one of the players currently in possession of a starting berth in United's attack.
Sir Alex Ferguson saw Rooney's future lying in midfield, where the forward's exceptional vision and reading of attacking opportunities could be harnessed to feed his colleagues further forward up field. The theory was occasionally put into practise with some very memorable results, most notably Van Persie's title-winning goal against Aston Villa in 2013, scored from a beautiful long ball from Rooney in midfield, which in some ways foreshadowed the delivery Blind provided for his Dutch colleague against Spain at the World Cup. He can AND should play CM, or rather start that position each match. He then cản boss the midfield with Herrera and Blind backing him up. Then when LVG hauls RVP or Falcao out, Rooney moves up to FW position while another player takes his CM position.

QUOTE(limjenson @ Sep 3 2014, 03:36 PM) Not nice to diss Welbz. He was United thru and thru. Just that the pressure the club is under no longer allows him the time to grow. Arsenal has less high targets. Only Top 4. Not that I am against him, but when you decide to CHIP the goalie when you can SHOOT to score, you lost all my faith in your goalscoring abilities (yeah, I'm referring to THAT moment last season).

Look at the article by Daily Mail (link below)... and the "pundits" giving their advice on how Falcao is to be played.... If I am LVG, I would take the 3-4-3 formation, but instead put the players like this:- DDG Jones -- Rojo -- Shaw Di Maria -- Herrera -- Rooney --- Blind Mata Falcao -- RVP This post has been edited by ZeroSOFInfinity: Sep 3 2014, 05:09 PM
