Flow & Processing Time:

Q: What’s the process involved and estimated time needed for the divorce proceeding?

The actual flow and time needed varies in each and every single case depending on the many factors which include the followings:-

The time needed for both parties to reach an agreement or settlement to the divorce arrangement
The efficiency of the court involved
The date of hearing granted by the court ( whether it’s early or late )
Number of hearings involved in the whole divorce proceeding
The complexity of the case
Whether the divorce petition is contested by the other spouse
Generally, it takes approximately 6 months to for the whole proceeding of a “simple” and uncontested joint petition divorce as indicated as follows:

Submission of documents and payment of deposit to legal firm
Preparation of divorce petition – 2 weeks
Signing/ Execution of divorce petition
Filing of Petition in the High Court and wait for the Hearing Date to be fixed by the High Court – Approximately 1 month
Attendance to the Court for once/ Payment of balance legal fees
Receipt of Divorce Certificate (Decree Nisi Order) – 4 months after the court hearing.
