So two days ago, I went to Lowyat and Viewnet 3rd floor. I bought a wired PC Xbox controller 360 at the price of RM69. I asked whether it is a new unit or not and the viewnet guy said it is a new unit. I still have my doubts so I asked whether it is refurbished. He then said yes plus he said refurbished wont have this same packaging.
After I bought the controller, I immediately opened the box and checked the controller. The condition is fine, even with the Microsoft hologram.
Then when I start using the controller in my house, something doesnt feel quite right. It feels way lighter, I weigh the controller and it is only 195g.
Finally, I thought of checking the serial number, only to realize the number on the box and the controller is not the same.

I feel quite disappointed which I have been purchasing from Viewnet so many times and even recommend to my friend.
The worst thing is, the controller LB button starting to get loose. To be honest, I feel cheated. I will try to go Lowyat again next week but I am posting here first perhaps people from viewnet can help. Or maybe is there any suggestion on how I should handle this matter? Any help is appreciated.

SOLVED.

Just went to Viewnet this morning. The staff talked nicely to me although they didn't offer for an exchange/refund at the first time. They gave excuse saying that it's a new batch of products etc. Then, I proved it by pointing out it has no inline cable release, it is too light, and there is no driver CD.

They then offered cash credit so I would top up RM50 more for the RM119 original controller. I accepted it. I can fairly say it's still a good service from them. At least the staffs are polite.

I would suggest everyone who is going to buy a xbox controller, please lookout for
a) Is there inline cable release on the controller?
b) Is the drivers CD included?
c) Is the controller heavy enough?
d) Is the Microsoft hologram looks 3D? (This is a tricky point) The real microsoft hologram really is 3D. You need to see the 'Microsoft' word pops out like 3D. Not SHINY.

Still feel quite disappointed that Viewnet sells fake products though.

im pretty sure they will say "why during purchase didn't check properly & maybe you are too hardcore on gaming which cause the button loose"

Such defect is not apparent on the first examination. And that's why I am asking suggestions on how I should handle this matter.

Do you have the pic of the box & the back part of the controller ? (remove battery)

Just want to know if they have repacked a replica controller to the original box.

Sorry I didn't state that it's a wired controller.

Hope these pictures can help. Now you mention, I think there might be a huge probability that they might have repackaged the controller.
Thanks for willing to help. smile.gif

Well looking at the pic, box looks real. for back of the controller im not too sure, I only have wireless controller.

Searching online shows different color label (Black), but it might be for Xbox instead of PC version. So its hard to tell, unless someone here have one for comparison?

It really looks like the same case. My controller looks almost identical to that. And he always said that the fake controller feels lighter.
And found another key point after searching online, my box is PC version right? But instead my manuals is this.

Is this manual for Xbox version or PC version? hmm.gif And from online, I read that PC version include a drivers CD? Mine doesn't come with it.

My cable also has no in-line release section yet the manual states otherwise.

Wow, this controller looks to be fake.

so hard to tell if its real or not haha, but from the xbox forum his is actually a Xbox version.

edit:- but you bought it at RM69? I think that's abit too cheap to be original ?

He said it's a promotion price.
The guy from xbox forum said his one is fake one? Because it weigh lighter than the original controller.

RM69 is under cost already.
The problem is if you go their shop later, they will say you change to other controller already as serial number different with box serial number.

I trusted Viewnet too much. I guess they really let me down this time. No second chance.

Ask for exchange. If refused, lodge a police report. Get verification on authenticity with MS. Legal action if necessary.

Agreed. Bring this up with MS. This is Viewnet we're talking about here...they've got a reputation to uphold

In this case, is it necessary to bring it within the warranty period? Warranty on receipt stated only one week. ohmy.gif
