Most of us are working so I can understand if it's hard to set a time for the matches.

But if already agreed on a date/time, then we should at least make sure that we can make it.

Hope it won't happen for the next few matches

Unlike other tournaments which are joined by teams whose players are selected through recruitment process, this is a paksa-rela type of team grouping.
Nobody wants to be a benchwarmer in this kind of arrangement by picking a subsitute in a team. Moreover, this unker's tourney to have fun right?
To resolve this issue in the future, why not allow all the late registers to be allowed second chance to be in the tournament and take over this MIA players as they probably are more serious in joining the competition. The MIA will be kicked out and will not be participating the tourney from there onwards and replaced by the new player.
Admins should already have a list of late registers right? so first come first serve during the start of the match in the event MIA happens.

I agree with the replacement but we need to ensure team balance to make this tourney fun and not one-sided. If not most people wouldnt wanna join. So without MMR we cant judge who should be the substitute.

To be fair to the committed team, we cant just use any substitute. So we will refer to the rules to make decision.

Rules already stated that we can wait for a maximum time, once that time over it depends on the team with full members in the lobby whether to take the default win or if agreed by both teams, re-schedule. Re-schedule will only be allowed once and if it still happens, they will be disqualified.

This is the first tourney we organize, so Im expecting hiccups along the way. We will improve on the next tourney.

Those who did not show up, we will consider blacklisting them in future tourneys. Once a commitment is made, you have to fulfill it unless there is an emergency or valid reason. I know its a voluntarily thing to join this tourney but be fair to your other teammates.

So I hope for future matches, all participants will be responsible enough to show up on the fixed date and time.

Given the player shuffle format of this tournament, it's not possible. We'll be lenient as this is the first iteration, but in future versions of this tournament, FFK-ers will be banned from ever competing again.

I'm thinking of implementing a league-style rule - each team is allowed ONE reschedule throughout each stage of the tournament.

It's not really paksa-rela. The shuffling decision was made because players in this guild have too wide of an MMR spread. If we allowed people to choose their own teammates, I guarantee you I can predict which team will confirm win from the brackets alone.

As for your late registers idea, yes, I think it's good. But we still need some metric to be able to sort players, and thus we'll still only be playing with players who have obtained their solo rating.
