I doubt this will change anything, when rares can be sold off for cash later on. The problem with SEA when it comes to competitive gaming is two-fold:
1. The lack of a proper prize pool and pay for players. I wouldn't be surprised if they can earn more from matchfixing than they did with their combined salaries for the month.
2. Players are really young. We're talking about kids here, the idea that what they're doing is career-ending doesn't even cross their mind. Like children, they expect to be forgiven over time.

eSports, like any other sport, could use a regulatory body with proper management to make sure things like these never happen again. However, the overseeing body must provide the sport enough room to flourish or we'll have a repeat of what went on in China before TI4.
