Nowadays blue pentagon and passed through Pokebank also can still considered hack.
Really hard to differentiate real ones and hack ones.

exchange friends code on the 3ds. You have to add your friend's friend code. And your friend have to add yours as well.
Just one adding it won't work. Both needs to be added.

To find your friends code and to add friends code. Find the orange smiley icon on the menu of the main 3ds. The icon is named, friends list..

X/Y is a lot more fresh and feels brand new. I'd recommend you to go with X/Y instead of R/S
If you have already played the old Ruby/Sapphire, it's pretty much the same game, so not a lot of fun imo.
