uberx is the cheaper version of uber
some people say uberx sometimes even cheaper than metered taxi(after midnight since uber/uberx dont charge midnite surcharge)

From my personal experience, MyTeksi seems to have more cars available when you're out of the city center eg. Puchong to KL etc. Takes 12-15 minutes for Uber to come to my place, usually 5-6 minutes for MyTeksi for example.

I'm surprised at the lack of knowledge/experience by LYN users. I thought most of you were the internet generation or generation Y or whatever they call them now. biggrin.gif Just download the app and try.

As someone who doesn't drive ...

Have used MyTeksi lots of times - going into KL, to the airport etc. no complaints so far at all.

Used Uber 3 times so far - of course much nicer cars - professional drivers etc. and the free credits for signing up friends is also good.

Yeah, MyTeksi has more cars available - but if you're not in a rush Uber wait isn't that long. Uber not that much more expensive compared to normal taxi I find.

Being billed directly to the card and having a record is also useful (especially for those who claim back as expenses ..)

I'm using MyTeksi quite a few times.

I was wondering what if I need taxi in advance? Like 5am in next week. I don't think MyTeksi able to do that (my friend tried few times said they always FFK one), not sure if Uber able to do that also.

Done it many times, just select the time and day you need it for - has to be at least 2 hours in the future if I remember correctly.

Never have they not shown up - each time get a follow up call 15 minutes later from MyTeksi staff also to confirm pickup.

This was for early pick ups to the airport - 3/4/5/6/7 AM in the morning

2 hours in the minimum for advance booking

Normally I just book the day / evening before, this is sufficient

i used Uber twice on my trip to Kuching recently.

i open my Uber app around 5:45am, no car around, close the apps. 5:49AM, i open back Uber app again and saw 2 cars available and sending my request out. within few seconds, i managed to grab 1 car!

its Peogeut 508 ! No surcharge being charge. my journey to KL sentral was an enjoyable trip. being offered a drink and the driver is a nice driver. cost me RM12.07.

when im coming back, its Monday 7pm, no problem grabbing Uber car. Its Toyota Camry. RM13.50.

I've used MyTeksi's advance booking a few times, no FFK case yet. MAybe try not to book too early. Two or one day before would be sufficient. Sometimes if it's too early I put in a few bucks as tips haha.

SPAD in two minds over Uber service
http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2014...6/SPAD-on-Uber/

Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar said Uber customer satisfaction was high, and that the service appeared to be picking up customers that taxis left behind.

“We have received a lot of reports on Uber. Our own officers have gone in to use the service, and ministers also say it is excellent.”

i've tried myteksi recently from Jalan Alor to KL Sentral.. taxi driver call me up once confirm with him.. thumbs up.. one thing i like abt myteksi is the price range they estimated are almost accurate..can use it as a reference..
hotel counter taxi quote me RM25 from alor to Sentral.. while myteksi only ~RM14 inclusive of the RM2..
there's another app call Easytaxi.. but not sure how efficient is that yet..

My bad experience with Uber
https://youtu.be/FiHSqzkHILo

Driver did not know directions, refuse to use waze, become rude and argumentative when I ask him which way he was going.

Furthermore this was with an Uber Black service

Uber has surcharges during peak/odd hours. Other than that, i did hv one unpleasant experience with uber. I was charged very high when i was using it first time in singapore (no problem when i used in kl). The map location didnt pin my location at the right place (but i couldnt change once it was pinned already, unless i cancel trip, gps problem or uber problem?? I never had this kinda problem when i use in kl) so the driver had a hard time finding me (after long time on phone trying to tell him where i was)and finally after 40mins, found me. But to my surprise (maybe i shouldnt even be surprised) uber charged me for the entire amount of time used, not yet including the time i spent standing beside the road like an idiot with my luggage for 40mins ..end up i spent much more if compare to if i just grab any taxi i see there and then (about 2times more) Haih. I guess shit happens sometimes no matter how convenient it seems.
