I want to open a saving account and I have seen Maybank website online and there are 3 packages of Maybank saving account. Maybank2u Savers (2.25% interest, minimum RM250 deposit) , Kawanku Saving Account (0.35-1.65% interest), and Basic Savings Account (0.35-1.65% interest and require minimum Rm20 deposit).

But when I went to Maybank counter to inquire about it, they say there is only one type of saving account and it offers 0.03% of interest p.a only and if no transaction within 3 months they will block your account and have to pay RM8 annually. But from Maybank website I didn't see such package. May i know is it whether the Maybank website didn't update or the staffs there didn't know there are other type of saving account available?

Maybank 2u Savers are "virtual account" u can only open if you have internet banking.
And to have internet banking u need to have a savings account, not sure credit card or others facility can or not.

Yes, after you open the saving account and have online banking access, you need to login and register for the savers account . That means you will have 2 accounts.

It says if after 3 months no transaction then you will be blocked and need to go to maybank branches to settle it (forgot whether need to pay extra or not). Or maybe they want me to save my money in the account so that they can charge RM8 annually?

Does that mean 2 debit cards also? If I already have m2u savers, can i withdraw all my money from my basic saving account and put in m2u savers and let my basic saving account rot?

They mean your maybank2u online banking facilities. If you do not access it atleast once in 3 months, it will be locked out for security reasons.
You can always call them to re-activate it back without charges.

As for the RM8 charges, that is for the ATM card facility for unlimited withdrawal times, which u can request them to change to limited 4 times/month withdrawal. then you will not be charged RM8/year.

No you only get 1 ATM card. Yes you can just transfer all money into that account.

But then again, why so much fuss? savings accounts are not actually a good way to earn interests. Just put in Fixed Deposit can get even higher return.

Thanks for the info now I understand the 3 months thing. Just need to log in that's all. Now i am still a college student and don't have much money to open Fixed Deposit yet.

If let's say I have 1 M2u saver and 1 basic saving account already and I didnt transfer from Basic to M2u saver yet. When I put my debit card in ATM does it know which account(m2u saver/basic saving acc) of money I want to withdraw from?
