Isn't the credit limit for both cards are shared?

it is common that if you own 2 or more card from same bank - shared CL so basically there is no point to do so unless you want the PL feature.
I shared this since end of 2013 at the CC foreign rate thread, often you will get fantastic rate and sometimes even lower than those stated on visa site.

But since i use this card primarily for BT, i turn to Amex for 5X TP.

my recent bt experience (in brief) with aeon...

aeon cs: sir, your cl balance is not enough to do a bt for 12k, you need to clear up at least 13k of your outstanding balance in order to do that.
me: ok, i will pay 13k in a while later.
aeon cs: sir, if you have 13k with you, why not you just pay off your other cc 12k with the money?
me: no other reasons, i'm just giving you some job to do so that you will not be jobless. thank me later.

*after few hours later i received sms stating that my bt is successful.

if mbb2amex really full already and you don't have other cc with petrol cb, always remember to go pump at caltex for 3% with mbb2mc instead of 5x tp (equivalent 2%) with mbb2amex.

The Bonus Points are credited on Statement Date based on the "monthly BT installment amount" (not the whole total BT amount)

You will get 4750 Bonus Points lah... payment won't deduct your points (which CC does that is crazy)

once a transaction is debited into your account, you get the points.
it doesn't matter whether your credit is earlier or later, it won't affect your points.
