The Babadook is a lean and mean horror film out of Australia, and this new Babadook trailer is just perfect. The film was one of the best at Sundance this year, and remains one of my favorites of the year so far.
The story centers on Amelia, a widowed mother, and her troubled young son Samuel. The kid is spinning out of control, and his mom is at her wits’ end. A strange storybook provides a focal point for Sam’s nightmarish hallucinations, and things get intense as Sam’s visions start to connect with Amelia’s own fears.
The characters Amelia and Samuel had undeniably the best chemistry of hate-love-hate-love relationship of a mother/son. Perfectly casted, and the best performance comes from that little boy!
Not your typical horror film, very smartly executed and feels refreshing even though you might say 'already been done before'. Believable performance from the supporting cast also helped drive the movie. Hats off to first feature length film director Jennifer Kent.
Highly recommended.
I didn't see the trailer or read about the plot, it just popped up at the downloads section + saw the word 'horror' and a quick search on RT resulted in a high score.
9/10

Babadook is actually just a metaphor of the grieve the mother is holding all along since her husband's death....
In the end she did not manage to remove it altogether... she still have to feed it from time to time.... but you can see she can control it the end after she acknowledge it's existant and stop living in denial.....
