from trailer i can say james wan is adopting comic story line "Throne of Atlantis"

there is rumors that movie floppers  or anti DC movies or Disney group or Marvel fanatic  ....try attempt bring down DC universe. Could say trying to make DC is joke and Marvel is marvelous. Someone behind the scene doing this. Attempt on Wonder women movie not really success, but Justice league could say success make in failed getting box office theater hit in movie screen.

By using Rotten Tomatoes (oen by Wrner themselves, maybe those who gave bad crittics in RT are Hydra agent?)

From the score, it won't be as bad as BvS or Suicide Squad... 

I was hoping it will be as good as "Wonder Woman" but oh well, it seem poised to be a good film.

If you're a DC fan or fan of superhero films in general, I think you will enjoy it.

Been waiting for this film for a long time, so was it worth the wait?

Let's start with the things I liked about the film. The world building in this film is insane, down to the smallest detail. The action sequences are jaw dropping and the special effects, while uneven at times, are superb and well done. The (infamous) third act (which is the bane for many CBMs), they surprisingly nailed, the final battle is a real treat! I really liked Orm in this film, has clear cut motivations and is very relatable to an extent that I was actually rooting for him. He easily ranks among the best DCEU villains, up there with Zod, and also among the best CBM villains I've ever had the pleasure of viewing

Now on to what I didn't like. Plot is serviceable enough and is predictable for the most part, there are little to no surprises in this film. The score was forgettable surprisingly, despite being composed by the same composer who did the score for the WW film. However the film's biggest problem is its script, some of the lines and jokes are quite honestly cringeworthy. Also, the fact that they would rather cram more world building exposition and explosions than have more character development scenes is baffling and quite frankly disappointing. Editing was really sloppy, some parts of the film didn't feel cohesive or flow as well as it should.

All things considered, no, it's not the best DCEU film, that honor goes to WW and MoS. Despite its flaws, there's a lot to love about the film. And it's one heck of a visual spectacle that's hard to pass up watching in the cinema. 3.5/5 from me.  thumbup.gif

got end credit scene?

Remember the part where James Cameron is to direct an Aquaman movie in Entourage. Well this is that movie without the aptitude of Cameron's talent. They went full blown underwater Avatar with it but has all the things of those terrible early 2000s Clash of the Titans movies. Get ready to be bamboozled with a lot of out of nowhere battles with out of nowhere creatures. Don't get me wrong, there are sea monsters and obscure undersea gods in the comics but they did it here more like an afterthought. Depending on your mileage, you may like it more than I do.

The biggest letdown is the portrayal of Black Manta and Ocean Master. While the motivation for Manta to be the arch enemy is there but he was played by a forgettable actor that bear zero consequences on Aquaman. Orm is your stocked villain you can find in any movie that just does the typical villainy things.....

In the comic books, Mera is the dynamite who is almost an equal to Aquaman. She jumps head first to pick a fight with anyone. Here they downplay her brashness a lot to the detriment of a subservient love interest and exposition machine. No hate for Jason Mamoa, just that this is not a great script for him to go beyond what he is capable of.

Not saying people will not be entertained by this movie, just that I'm looking for a richer character driven story instead of an inflated showcase of CGI that mirrors a video game experience. Also can't help that it is full of familiarities from other movies. It doesn't have that unique quality I was hoping to find.

At the same time this is not a train wreck like the Snyder movies but not exactly a masterpiece that will topple the MCU dominance at the box office. Think this is beneath WW that fundamentally a flawed movie but with enough redeeming factors to overlook it's problematic execution. Just me that I'm anti overblown empty CGI fest and it does not possessed the craftmanship of the likes of Cameron, Del Toro, Jackson, etc...

On the plus side, I didn't shut it off like Ant-man and the Wasp which I stop watching after the first 10 minutes.

Aquaman (2018)

What a... spectacle!

I don't know how much money was spent making this movie, it must have been a obscene amount (according to imdb it is USD 160,000,000, and have to add, it looks to me much much more than that)!!

Okay, admittedly, I was a little skeptical, when Jason Momoa was cast as Aquaman, it sounded like a miscast for me (have you seen Aquaman in the comic?? He is BLOND for Pete's sake!!?!)

When Justice League came out, I was like okay, he did not suck.

How is he, in Aquaman's first solo outing?

He is... good!

His Polynesian/Hawaiian roots seems to give his portrayal of Aquaman, some... weight.

Let's talk about the source material for a minute.

Aquaman in the comic book is.... "very vanilla".

Even in Lego Aquaman, it makes fun of Aquaman "usefulness" in the League.

As mention, the Justice League (2017) movie, has all of DC's big three, namely Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman (yes, he is the third strongest character in the DC universe).

So, how do you make the character, relevant?

You make him an outcast.

The millennial will love that, and Jason Momoa "stands out" just by well, standing there.

This movie is NOT perfect, and have to add, it does make DC comics feel more adaptable to the movies.

They should not try to emulate the Marvel Cinema Universe.

They are their own material and have their own feel.

Wonder Woman (2016) and Aquaman (2018) have proven that.

Highlight of this movie is

1) Jason Momoa

2) Nicole Kidman (very little scene time, and have to add, she sold what little scene time she has to the max).

3) James Wan has a Patrick Wilson fetish? He seems to use him in everything he does!?! Aquaman list of villains are.... not household names, and have to add, Patrick Wilson sold his character Orm, like his life depended on it.

The not so good things about the movie

1) There are some plot holes between this movie and Justice League (2017) (this movie happens after Justice League)


So, don't like any negative I have mention above to impede you from watching this movie.

It is a good and entertaining movie.

And I hope, will encourage DC to make more.

Go watch it, you know you want to.

Watched yesterday. Pretty nice movie. Like the narrative. 😊
Despite having lower RT score, I do enjoy it way more than overhype Black Panther and Ant Man & Wasp. On side note, the CGI in sahara desert didnt looks that real. Seems like DC having hard time to catch up with Marvel level CG.

8.5/10 for me.. really liked it.. good to see dc is doing better than before.. hope that shazam will be good as well

It's a plate of rojak with lots of ingredient mixed together

but it's a delightful delicious plate rojak, you'll be savoring every piece of ingredients, but upon finishing it, you'll forgot what you've just ate.

And that's what Aquaman feels like

and there are a few plot similarities with the House of M's Black Panther, so comparing both of them are inevitable.

Anyway, it's a joy to watch, watched it on IMAX, the vividness of neon colors of the underwater world really stands out on the IMAX screen

Didn't recognize him with shirts on and beard
kept wondering throughout the movie who the heck is he, looks  so damn familiar, but can't place a name or related movies with that face
only during the credit rolls that I got my answer

Depending on which writer handling the storyline, Geoff John version of Arthur Curry is the powerhouse hero you don't mess with. He is a little more like Jamie Lannister. A little rough on the edges and pretty brutal. Dan Abnett version has him returning to the noble hero roots. This movie version just a little streamline to the usual reluctant hero with added surfer bro demeanor. Glad it's Jason Mamoa otherwise you'll be looking at a Chris Pine look-a-like casting. Just wish they put more effort in fleshing out the characters and storyline.



Not saying the movie has to mimic 100% of source material but at least give a more meaningful spin or recontextualized it to something more refreshing.
