LOL your points and mine are somehow still not connecting.

The approach I'm talking about is:

1) You start a 'gang' of buyers.

2) Every time a new TF is announced, you checkpoint with your gang to see who wants it.

3) If enough people in your gang want an item, you approach the seller, place a group preorder, and get your bulk discount.

4) If you don't have enough people to activate the discount, whoever wants just buys individually at normal price.

5) I'm not sure where you got the idea that it must be forced, or that the group must buy everything that comes out. You just do it whenever it works, so sometimes you get discount, sometimes you don't.

If you say you have tried this approach and it didn't work well, that's cool too. That's exactly why I am just sharing the idea, to gauge people's opinions and experiences with it smile.gif

i think there's a bit of a problem, since your numbers may not be there all the time, your seller (or rather, supplier?) may not be interested in dealing with you, since you're not going to consistently buy from him

if you do mean a seller, like x2o or 1toy, for example, they've already gone through company > supplier > themselves > you and may not be able to afford too big of a discount, hence the purpose of going through the hassle is rendered moot

just my idea though, it's hard to benefit from this, unless you yourself have a steady base of customers (for lack of better word... groupmates?) and consistently buy from a supplier enough to have him give u good discounts.. else it's just not too much difference from getting it yourself from your favourite seller and asking for a bit of a discount when possible laugh.gif

Yeah that's the biggest drawback of it.

Plus how much can you save on an average RM200+ transformer? 5% discount is only RM10...

I'd be willing to give it a shot for higher end stuff like RM1.5k third party combiners though. 5% on that is RM75, which you can use and go buy a Hasbro deluxe class tongue.gif

that's a bit tricky, even entire sets of combiners, of you look at x2o's page, is steadily increasing
i know because i've been noting the price of Feral Rex for a few weeks now cry.gif and it's just going higher and higher.. not sure what factors into this, whether it's for profit or the price from factory really is going up, i shall not jump to conclusions, but to be fair, when it come to 3rd party, there's not much you can save or much can be given by the sellers laugh.gif

It is a way from x2o to encourage buyer buy early. This enable her to estimate the qty of stock she need to order to avoid over-stock.
I think is fair to say that x2o is taking risk from you to place a huge chunk of orders from supplier (bulk order for better price and you benefit) but only collect 20% deposit from you. The later you placed order, the more risk you placed on her. Not to mention the supplier also only giving early birth discount to her as well.

the price rise thing is weird yeah.. on the other hand.. despite even with shipping, it's a bit more expensive then retail stores sometimes.. I still go with them for most of my orders. My gripe with Vhobby (particularly) and 1Toy is sometimes the lack of info. My TFC Aethon and Phobus still no word yet.. although vhobby page admin did say in the nnext few shipments.. Got one bro, he ordered the MP-11 reissue with them.. till now no word. Supposedly other places have it already.

Now some of you mught think, this is not an issue, just later get.. but when collecting stuff such as Masterpiece reissues, it's quite huge to give your buyers more info. If you suddenly say you cannot get stock, even you return deposit also pointless, because now the buyer don't know where else to get.

X2o so far have not tell me.. "Sorry, no ifno on stock." or "oops not getting it."

The other issue is, is lack of after sales. Take for example Scoria, mine was the first batch, but thankfully no loose arms. However the jaws in Dino mode is a bit loose. Sellers like X2o can get you replacement parts.. however Vhobby ask them, totally no information or idea. This is quite important for 3rd party as replacement parts sometimes are required.

Another issue is the lack of information. The other day go ask 1Toy if they bringing in Mech Ideas Gauntlet.. they say don't have.. so I preoredered elsewhere.. (from BBTS).. then the other day, go visit their store.. apparently they got take orders =_= .

For me, between work and family, I don't have time to always go to the toy store and check, so I really need to know if i'll be getting my order.

it's in the plastic bag that comes with the figure.. if it's missing you may want to check back with your seller
