// People, what's with the group attack on winternight? No, i'm not a friend of his, but me too can feel his frustration. Being childish or not is another thing (he said it, he's just not that good in expressing himself, don't flame on lack of ability to construct expressive sentence), but WCG DOES have a loadsa flaws, this one thing i think everyone agrees to, too.

// My suggestion: Set up a FEEDBACK and SUGGESTION BOOTH. Simple and effective. (I had not been attending the WCG, so if there's already one, pardon me for my ignorance.)

p/s: i'm from mmu. i think someone said something bout winternight from mmu. Was that because of the recent WCG College Prelim in MMU?

(WARNING: WHINING AHEAD, DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHINES)

Yea it, sucks coz most of the gamers had to wait 6-7hours before starts playing. But it was understandable because of the lack of power supply outlet. But the thing to blame was the marshalls not being responsive enough in estimating the time that the gamers can actually play. I went at 10, and i was told we are up at 2. and then at 2, we were told we are up soon. And i started to play at 5. rclxub.gif :

its a new arena, there are hiccups sure to bound in every corner, i still do not understand why some people still need to be spoon fed. and the fact that you yourselves add a disclamer stating that "no i am not his friend" etc, etc etc doesnt mean you are on the same camp. shakehead.gif again

MORE WHINES
Spoonfed? Okay, so i should be content with having to wait for 6 hours? I will not whine if the marshall would tell me to come back later after 6hours. Instead, he told me that the game will be up at 11AM when it should've start at 10AM (We were informed to arrive at 9, any team failed to reach before time will be DQ). So i waited 1 hour since there's nothing much i can do. After 1 hour, they told me it will be our turn soon. Since i'd already missed my lecture class, i might as well wait there. At 2PM, they told us it will be up at 4PM. What do you think i should do? My team and I played with fatigues afterward rclxub.gif

i'd been a marshall too, smaller scale, but nevertheless an official event. And the very least i do not mislead the gamers with inaccurate and ineffective instructions.

Suggestions: Better briefing next time by the Head Marshall. Please do include a checklist on Do and Don't. The marshalls aren't trained in critical decisions making. when problems surface, they could at the very least listen to some suggestions, instead of dragging time.

The overall event ended well. All the games were completed around 8PM. The marshalls did a goodjob on trying to be fair to everyone, but did a poor job on keeping the players informed with what's on and what's not.

you must understand that not all marshalls know when which group will end, but nevertheless, you should look for the head game marshall at the island instead. i have a feeling that you asked one of the crews which most of the time are assigned other jobs and will not know the current situation of any game at any given time wink.gif

add= waiting 6 hours was nothing. i waited the whole day for a game that was actually scheduled in the late evening - and the players didn't know that.

Ok... Sorry for the outburst then. Anyway i was talking bout the 1st college prelim. There were only 3 marshalls, plus minus. But why not give more buffer time since it is absolute that the schedule will be disaligned? MMU WCG Prelim only has around 3 CS team and 4 Dota teams, i think the time required can be quite predictable. (that time Dota was still using 1hour rule)

For big scale tourney? that's really gonna be tough. wink.gif

Looking forward for a better WCG2007! icon_rolleyes.gif
