I face similar issue since day 1. For my case, it happened when I received email alert (gmail).When I tried to pull down the notification bar, it will sort like hang and after the awhile, the screen will turn black like yr pics.
So now, whenever this happened. I'll just go to the gmail app and open the mail. Once the notification for the gmail has been cleared, everything will be back like normal.
You can try. So far, I still haven't encounter this issue after I upgrade to V22 & V23.
From my earlier observation, it's very random.
