i very much agree with that. look at how renault and fernando won the titles this year. they came out all flying and quick at the start of the season, managed to built up a healthy lead before the ferraris managed to improved and had to play catch-up but they still couldn't snatch it away from renault.

same goes for last year. mclaren had a car which was incredibly quick (and unreliable too ) but what's the point? renault had built up a gap at the start of the season which was too big for mclaren to catch up.

IMHO, actually Ferrari did nearly manage to snatch it away but failed by silly mistakes of Michael and the Ferrari team.
If Ferrari win...it would be close.

It's between de la Rosa and Hamilton. Ron will announce this before teh launch of teh car in January

but they didn't now, did they? if ferrari started the season with that kinda car, then the advantage would have went to them.

exactly my point la. even with all of mclaren's improvements throughout the season and having the fastest car at the end of the season, a poor start to the season screwed everything and no, kimi did not ever top the WDC.

Must be competitive at least in the 2nd GP.

I remember in 2000, Ferrari got 1-2 in the first 3 races, and both McLaren drivers did not finish much. But Mika chased up till the 2nd last GP...and he was leading in the championship until his engine blew in USA. From there, it was all downhill...
I wanted to see Kimi bring back the life into McLaren but unfortunately he couldn't.

The main thing about Mika is that even tho the car is not consistent, he is.

That's the reason why Scheuy was so keen on Mika making a return to F1 as he thinks he is the man to beat. Unfortunately, Schuey wish did not materialise.

before this, ilmor engineering is responsible for mercedes engine right? so all the reliable problem maybe is from ilmor which now out for motogp... so next season mercedes gonna built engine for mclaren by them selve... wonder how good and how reliable it will be .... newey already out to redbull and tombazis already back to ferrari ... so everything is new for mclaren... all the best for mclaren and alonso next season

hmm... if the next mclaren really goes in this design, i would still prefer the MP4-21... feel kinda hard to imagine the chrome color mixed with red... not so favour in it...
