I do think that Fernando is GENUINLY faster than Kimi, but Massa is a problem

I have a feeling that if Lewis can do anything about Kimi during the start, Fernando can have a run at Massa

QUOTE(mcchin @ Apr 8 2007, 10:01 PM)
oh come on
you know his temperement
total unprofessional

plus during last year with mclaren
most of the mclaren engine failures happen to kimi's car
and not on wurz, and montoya's car. hmm.gif
so i am juzz waiting for kimi to blow some ferrar-less car

Agree. He drives fast, but he don't like to have anything to do with helping with the car. Even his setup is usually made by his engineers.
Comparing Fernando and Kimi during the 3 weeks break,

Fernando - went to Woking IMMEDIEATLY after the Aussie GP, helping the team with testing new parts and simulation and finished just 5 days before today's GP.
Kimi - Went for holiday, test for 2 days, and went AWOL.

Comparing both drivers, fernando didn't even came to the track during teh 4 day test here, and thus was on the back foot during teh whole weekend. so for him to win was a brilliant thing

no. we were slower today. If Massa was not so crappy, he could have pulled away easily. Even Fernando was suprised that not only he won, but the team got 1-2

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Apr 9 2007, 05:25 PM)
Good result for McLaren. I'm hoping Alonso becomes the next Ayrton Senna for them, god bless his soul.

Only complaint I have it the 2 bloody hours it took me to get there. Not having earplugs isn't an option either. Babes were nice though biggrin.gif Oh but we are talking about the race... Nico Rosberg stopped right in front of where I was seated after experiencing engine failure and this swarm of human traffic suddenly descended in front of me. I guess it's the same with Malaysians anywhere. Have car trouble and everyone's suddenly an interested spectator.

Interesting read. I was talking to some Ferrari fans in another forum (not this forum, except for some individuals like Hornet or chairmanmeow, they don't know anything about the team other than wanting them to win XD), and they told me about how in 2000, Ferrari wanted to get Fernando for free from Minardi. These 2 articles seems to support that claim

http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns03143.html

Anyways, what happened was, because Ferrari don't want to pay for Alonso's contract from the Minardi team (kinda ironic that they have loads of money...), they told him that they will let him drive for Prost, and at the same time be their test driver. Fernando didn't like that as he felt that the Minardi team gave him his F1 chance and screwing them the money that they needed is not what he wanted to do. Thus he waited for Briatore who bought his contract from Minardi legally, and like we know, the rest is history. Ironically, the person Fernando replaced at Minardi, Marc Gene is now Ferrari's test driver

Nope, he has raced here in F3 (where he won from 23rd) and also GP2, thus he don't have handicap in Sakhir. And he will be faster in europe where he's more accustomed to racing

Considering that he raced two times in the car already he can already have a feel on how the car will perform on a track he already have experience.

Ron Dennis has done it again IMO. He now has two of the best drivers currently on the F1 field right now. Kimi is fast, but Fernando is all in all a more complete driver. Lewis is still not his peak yet, thus he can be better. BRING ON THE FERRARIS!!!!

Driving style more than anything else. fernando has a different driving style compared to lewis, and IMO Fernando just didn't find that sweet spot on his car (kinda like Germany and USA, where he just cannot find the right setup). thus he cannot copy lewis setup.
Also, it seems that Lewis slides into corners does not neccesarily means he has setup problem. Sometimes, a car with a very good setup can be driven with a 5~10% slide for faster laptimes.

It was said that a light fell on the front wing of the car the night before the race, and it changed the handling radically. If you see, the car was stable during qualy

Well, it's his home race. He should be better. Remember how he wanted to beat Michael in 03 in the shitty renault there? i was rooting for him at the time. He managed to get second there, and only 5 seconds behind Schummi

Villeneuve nearly won his first GP if not for a fuel leak, and had to finish second

Well, I do think Lewis can be faster, but he still lacks the experience, ecspecially strategy wise where you need to know when to push and when to hold back, and to change your pit stop if you think you can get a better place. That I think if Lewis can learn from Fernando, he can be much faster. At the moment tho, I rate Fernando higher.
