My wife's S4 having blank screen problem..the phone seems working..the buttons lights up..but the screen is blank..already sent to samsung for warranty..this is the second time it happen..first time happen after 1 month she bought the phone and took 2 weeks to repair the phone..The phone still new..bought on july 2014..i search on the internet and found out that quite a lot user having this problem..anyone having this problem before?

I did asked her to try hard reset but still same..not sure she did it correctly or not..she live in johor and i live in terengganu so i can't do it for her..but when she try remove the battery, insert back and power on, the problem still exist..when power on the phone, can still see samsung logo but after that became blank..luckily still under warranty..but just 4 month use already 2 times happen..hope no more problem after this or will decide to sell the phone..

After the screen became blank, when press the home button, the capacitive button below lights up..but the screen still blank..i'm not sure what firmware version it has..but not the latest version coz i didn't update when the phone found an update in september..S4 i9500..should i update after collect from service centre? any problem after update to latest firmware?

Stock firmware on the s4 is still on 4.3 which is android jelly bean. The lattest update is 4.4.2 which is android kit kat. Just get it updated to jellybean via OTA updates. Im sure most forummers here are on kit kat now.

Thanks..my wife's S4 firmware maybe 4.2.2..maybe i should try update to 4.3 first..who knows maybe the problem can be solve after update firmware..before this i'm afraid to update in case got problem after update to 4.3..i read on the internet some user having problem such as battery drain after update to 4.3..

i forgot actually the firmware version..if current official firmware already 4.4.2, then maybe my wife's S4 firmware is 4.3..i remember that on August or September the phone download update automatically and prompt me to update but i just ignore the update..

She already sent it to warranty..if that phone currently on 4.3, should i update to 4.4.2 or not? what about battery life on 4.4.2 compare to 4.3?

Update for my wife's S4 problem..shop said that samsung service centre already found the problem..broken screen inside..and they said user fault so not cover warranty..have to pay RM700 if want to repair..the phone never drop before so how come screen got broken inside? If the screen broke then how come before this after first time sent to warranty can still use the phone? the same blank screen problem happen actually for the first and second time sent to warranty..really confuse..

The shop said service centre already took picture of the broken screen as proof..my wife said don't want to repair ..for RM700, better bought new phone..maybe no more samsung phone..

The glass screen didn't break..looks normal..but the screen just blank..i already applied tempered glass SP on it..and the phone using flip cover..no symptom of screen problem before it suddenly became blank after my wife charge the phone..

Yes..my wife bought the phone at Foto Charlie BP Mall Batu Pahat..still under warranty so she send it to that shop..they send to service centre..shop called said service centre already check and screen broken..user fault so not cover warranty..Rm700 to repair..this is second time happen..first time happen just 1 month after bought the phone..phone still new..bought on july 2014..

SME set..and the shop seems like a reputable one..starting bussiness from 1975..they have 6 branch around batu pahat..thats why i bought at their shop..my wife said maybe got drop once around 40cm height..but after that the phone seems ok and still can use about 1 month..no symptom of screen problem until it suddenly became blank during charging..
