General Information

If you're looking for a car that is very efficient when it comes to fuel, then look no further as I-DSI would fit your option very well. The I-DSI has good low to mid-range torque.

If you're looking for a car that has better power, and don't mind the slightly higher fuel consumption compared to I-DSI, then you should check out the VTEC model. The VTEC has good mid to hi-range torque.

Honda City's Fuel Tank is 42 litres. Both models I-DSI and VTEC has the steermatic control (7-speed manual/auto shifting on the steering).

The automatic gearbox's selection is:

R - Reverse
N - Neutral
D - Normal Driving
S - Sports Driving
L - Low Gear

My opinion on the issue regarding power:

I'd like to talk about this power / horsepower issue on the I-DSI that has often given it quite a rough image that it would be underpowered compared to other cars of the same displacement.

The City packs quite a lot of technology within it and thus the I-DSI although it's engines rated horsepower is 88hp, it will still be good. Why? What's important is the amount of power/torque transferred to the wheels. As we all know, not all the power from the engine gets transferred due to power loss due to the airconditioner, transmission, steering and all that. Now, this is why the power on the I-DSI and VTEC is good.

The City has Electronic Power Steering (EPS) meaning it is non-hydraulic (no fluid ) and that has saved quite a good amount of power loss. The City also has a CVT transmission that is without a torque converter which means, less power loss again. Some of you may have experienced your City rolling back on a slope and power taking a while to be transferred, and this is the reason why. No torque converter. Two of these factors itself reduces quite a good amount of horsepower to be transferred from the engine to the wheels.

Toyota Vios, Nissan Sentra, Hyundai Accent, Perodua Myvi, and many others comes with conventional auto gearboxes and hydraulic steerings. and thus takes up quite an amount of horsepower from the engine.

i thought our stock tires are Good Year NCT5? how come you're going for the same tires? I'll go for other brands when I change mine.. rims wise, no idea.. haha.. economy tak baik

as long as the car has good service records, it should be fine. But depending on how old the car is, do understand that some parts may be due for replacement and you should have some cash in hand to replace them. Owning a car is much easier than maintaining one

I think I posted in the V2 thread, but nvm.. it should cost below RM200 per piece, original from Honda Malaysia (if not mistaken, around the range for RM140 +/- per piece)

I'm not sure if it's possible, but last time my former civic with those lousy michelin certis tires costs around RM175 per piece (about 3 years ago), excluding the balancing, alignment and tire valves. If you are going for Certis, then you might as well go for the Good Year NCT5 tires as they are better (from what i've experienced).

But if you are going for Pilot Preceda or the Energy XM1, I doubt it'll be that cheap bro. Scout around Klang as that place is known for tires at a cheaper price.

Yes, it's the ABS activating. Try not to hit the brakes too hard to activate the ABS, although it's pretty easy to activate the ABS.

Try braking kau kau when u drive at a certain speed. You'll get "krack krack" sounds and vibrations on your brake pedal.

Added. There will be slight difference, but the acceleration power of your car on 17 inches will definitely be poor compared to 15" or 16"


trade-in your stock rims & tires for 15" and top up lo

skimming at RM90 per rim, you're better off using the money to top up for new rims.

when ur car is brand new, it can fetch up to RM900 inclusive of the tires.

if your rims are non-dented and scratchless, it could still fetch a good price.. i know friends who got trade-in price range of between RM600-800

besides, those rims that we trade in are probably recycled/sold back to the manufacturers to be fitted back to new cars
