don't bother with the 5th wave.

total amateurish alien invasion flick. biggrin.gif

better off watching falling skies (tv series).

monkey king 2 2016... is good!

the story is well known, nothing new. it is sort of a sequel to monkey king 2014 from the same director.

it is refreshing with aaron kwok, gong li and william feng. the most noticeable thing about this movie is the animation and special effects are definitely good for a hongkong/china movie, much better than its predecessor.

the hd audio is excellent. 4/5. rotten tomatoes gives it a 100% rating!

i look forward to a third episode, i hope on "bull king-princess iron fan-red boy".

The story is good but I hate the music though. Doesn't gell well with the scenes.
*
i thought the music and the whole soundtrack was excellent.

the sudden action sounds come out superb in hd audio.

action ones, a few - ip man 3, monk comes down the mountain, sword of destiny, monkey king 2,

the "dynastic" kind - should go for tv series - thee is always a couple on-going.

Deadpool (2016) (Addendum)

I am going to make a very unpopular observation here...

As entertaining as this movie was the first time round, it does not amuse as much second time round.

With is breaking the fourth wall, humor and nudity, they don't register as well the first time round.

Maybe it is me.

Just another two sen.

If you enjoy this in multiple viewing, you enjoy it in multiple viewing
*
i thought it was alright.

it is not a typical superhero movie.

more of an action comedy.

must say ryan reynolds did a pretty good job.

action, animation quite well done, humor was good.

the dtshdma audio was good.

sequel said to go ahead.

I liked it the first time round

Not so much the second time around...

Just don't think it "survives" close scrutiny.

Just a personally opinion.
*
comedies are such.

there is no fun if u already know the jokes and humor.

like hangover, 1st time hilarious but can't do 2nd round.

also, ryan reynolds did much better as deadpool than green lantern which i thought was a total flop.

here's a good current affairs/documentary film - where to invade next by michael moore.

some astounding facts about how different countries are dealing with issues like education, drugs, prisoners, women rights.

a must for those who like moore's previous works incl fahrenheit 9/11 and sicko.

The scene with the bear is unforgettable.
*
did u know...

The bear attack is a grueling, visceral moment that feels grounded and real. But it wasn’t, the bear was actually a stuntman named Glenn Ennis. To accomplish this feat, he wore a big blue costume and walked, talked, and generally acted like a bear in the woods.

Just now I know about it. Thank you for the info.

really, with all the cgi tech and great actors/stuntmen, everything can be made in the studio.

external scenes can be shot and modified to whatever way it's required.

all the nice scenaries are not real but computer effects.

everything is revealed in "the making" of movies.

pearl harbor - all the scenes were shot in 2001 but modified to look like 1941.

matrix - most of the great action shots were filmed in the studio with hundreds of cameras placed in a 360 deg ring.

avatar, lord of the rings - most shots were made indoors with lots of wires attached to the bodies with blue suits for cgi manipulation.

that's modern day movies. biggrin.gif

TWO syfy movies for you.

synchronicity is a low budget time travel story. however, the drama and the suspense is pretty good, keeps you going. and like all time travel mindbenders, you will say, at several points of the film, "wait a minute, that can't be, what's happening here?".

not as slick as predestination but worth a watch. 3/5.

midnight special is a suspenseful, well written script drama. not to spoil it for you but the show keeps you wondering where the story is going next. one way to describe this movie - "close encounters of a new kind". biggrin.gif 3.5/5.

As for the these two.

I feel they are better material for a TV episode rather than a movie

My Two Sen

there are 12 star trek movies.

i have all of them, rewatched a few of them 2 years ago, will watch the rest in a couple yrs time. biggrin.gif

seriously, i really can't remember the stories of all of them except for the first one... "V'Ger" and the 2 most recent. the rest... there was one about dolphins, one about spocks lost and found, one about khan, one about the crew of enterprise fighting against their doppelgangers...?

i definitely remember the stories of the 6-episode hobbit-lord of the rings or 7-episode star wars better. laugh.gif

well, star trek 13 coming july this year.

triple 9 is a crime story film. the script is not very well written but the action and suspense is quite good. keeps u riveted to the seat for 2 hours.

star studded cast - Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 years a slave), Aaron Paul (breaking bad), Norman Reedus (walking dead), Woody Harrelson, and Kate Winslet. 3/5.

waiting for your Kill Command reviiew..

ah, i just noticed it has dts:x version! thumbup.gif

will have to get a new AVR, a new player soon enough! laugh.gif

kill command is a weak syfy movie. it reminds u of terminator 3 and falling skies.

the story is simple with a poor script but decent action.

ok for syfy fans but it's not a movie u will remember for long. 2/5.

ex-machina in comparison is way better despite less action.
