anyone watch bandersnatch? haven't had time to start it yet

Just watched this without realizing the feature of the film. Only found out 1.5 hours in suspecting something is not right.
Quite a interesting concept but would not say story line was anything intriguing like any regular blackmirror episode.
Its based in the 80s and it got me setting my Spotify to 80s music after watching. I missed New Wave so much.

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch... is not a great movie but probably a success as an interactive movie experiment.

makes a good advertisement for netflix too.

there is nothing much in the story but if u get to interact with it, u get some fun with extra scenes.

u gotta watch it on netflix to be interactive; fixed versions just have the default decision tree line.

it is said there are like 10 diff endings... i think found only 3 or 4... biggrin.gif 2.5/5.

hunter killer 2018 is quite a good war/submarine thriller.

it is not as slick as hunt for red october 1990 or crimson tide 1995 but offers sufficient suspense, action and thrill.

"set to 1SQ... 15 deg down bubble... rig for ultra quiet... dive, dive, dive!"

u get an idea what current day nuclear attack submarines and destroyers can do.

gerald butler does a decent job but gary oldman was probably a waste of time.

will watch it again in 4k when available. 3/5.

first man is a biography movie of neil armstrong - the first man on the moon.

not sci-fi like gravity or interstellar... it is sci-fact, based on a book, pretty good account of events that led to that july afternoon 1969... "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".

a movie filled with drama, emotions, ambition and loss of lives.

great performance by ryan gosling and a few others. 3.5/5.

fantastic beasts the crimes of grindelwald

4/5 - it's nothing like the first one, it's fantastic beast on steroid. you thought you're watching harry porter. Jude Law and Johnny Depp, made it great.

Bohemian Rhapsody

4/5 : Actually not bad but Rami Malik's mouth movement is a bit painful to watch.

3/5 - Nicole Kidman & Russel Crowe acting prowess is commendable yet subtle only that rape scene is superficial.

swedish writer stieg larson wrote the crime thrillers The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest. he died in 2004.

the 3 books were made into movies, swedish productions starring noomi rapace.

david lagercrantz, another swedish journalist and author, continued the book series with The Girl in the Spider’s Web and The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye.

separately, hollywood made The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

and then The Girl in the Spider's Web starring claire foy (who played armstrong's wife in first man).

this movie series is good, i have watched all of them.

the girl in the spider's web may not be as good as its predecessors but if u like thrillers like jason bourne or jack ryan, u will like it. 3/5.

bohemian rhapsody...

if u r a queen fan, there is no doubt it will be a great treat.

while there r some inaccuracies in the movie story, it is a good production, directed by bryan singer.

i am impressed with the details of the last 20min or so - the performance at live aid concert 1985.

having watched this concert (again) not so long ago, one can notice the reenactment was down to the last details incl the t-shirts, jackets, pepsi cups...!

the actual concert had 6 queen songs in the set but only 4 was shown in the movie, missing out "this thing called love" and "we will rock you".

the soundtrack is all genuine queen recordings, some never released before.

and rami malek, imo, deserves an oscar nomination. 3.5/5.

the movie cost $50 mil and had grossed $800mil.

if 4hdr, ok...

becos i only have netflix HD and my tv can't do dd+... so it is 1080p dd5.1 only.
whereas i got hold of a 1080p HDR DD+ file for playback.

i asked becos of below... something about netflix new packges 4k (no HDR), 1080p HDR... maybe even "2k HDR".

i suppose if this is true and impt locally, it will be brought up in the netflix thread eventually.
