well, there was a demonstration on how the test shouldn't be taken too seriously, hence the term "1 arm bandit".
Why? because head and shoulders shampoo also fared damn well (iinm, was the best performer too lol), should we put in head and shoulders now since it contains a decent amount of zinc?
obviously there could be some bias/methodology issue on these tests, however the point remains.

If you looked at the video you'll also understand why human or machine applied pressure wouldn't matter much, unless you can have a full replacement of the entire pressure grinder/test subject (That piece of metal?) itself, or hell, individual falex machine.

That is not to say i don't disagree with you though. however afaik there is an actual ASTM engine wear tests however that test is rather costy (for the test bench/engine/specific equipment and what not) and the independent/customized ones may lack some credibility (IINM shell has it, to demonstrate their pennzoil/shell pure plus)

Daniel has been hoping i'd put their oils to the ultimate test by having UOA done so we'll see how that goes biggrin.gif

you know what, i am actually curious on what temps i am getting as well, so i am looking into oil pressure/temp gauge, hopefully can get a decent 2 in 1 one (looking at depo atm) and be done with it.
to my knowledge, all i need to do is have the pressure/temp sandwich plate thingy and just figure out how to wire into the cabin?
what gauge you got/how you set it up btw?

The oil adapter might leak oil wer. Have to use a lot of teflon tape

Considering Moty's also but a bit sakit the price.

Redline Synthetic Oil

oo how much pricing/where you got it from? (both the sandwich plate/gauge)
if not convenient over thread please pm me, thanks biggrin.gif

need to figure out how to route the cabling into the cabin as well, not to mention modern cars having a lot of panels and what not to deal with to keep the wiring tidy/hidden sweat.gif

any specific tips/things (installing it properly a bit general to me) to watch out to avoid leaks? use lots of PTFE plumbing tapes or something?

Teflon tape is something you cannot run away la. Even if the adapter is good, it doesn't mean the threads on the sensors are good enough. With pressure, it will eventually find it's way out.

So, teflon tape is just a safeguard against having oil dripping onto whatever is below the adapter loh.

Don't do, leak. You got no one to blame but yourself.

Do, don't leak. At least you more happier having a clean engine bay la rite? Or you can undo everything and re-do without teflon tape to see if it leaks just to satisfy your curiosity.

Just see which jalan you want to take only.

redline tarak, they never had API certification and they tend to rely on zinc/zddp additives a lot on their formulation which is a catalyst poison (which also explains why they can't deal with API lol)

their gear oil (MTL 75w80 GL4) yes, with UOA as well.

no idea on Moty, motul tau la, and that one hard to paper wrap chicken because of that heavy ester scent lol
*
Redline is cheaper la. Anyways, cat poisoning is not my worry.

As for Motul, it will be too late when i found out that i bought a paper wrapped chicken lo. There was a case that an authorized reseller also gotten a batch of paper wrapped chicken quite long ago. So, buying from safe sources is not 100% guaranteed safe also.

Susah la ini maciam.

The only syiok side of buying Moty's is that i can go Wing Hin and meraba-raba their 86 before i buy my Moty's tongue.gif

these days not that cheap also even for redline. but yes it is cheaper than motul 300v la.

well, i can't guarantee anything aside that it's safer if you buy from reseller/seller that take stocks from the official distributor which is High N lubricants based in Taman Setiawangsa (no you cant go direct to them unless you got connections, i know i couldnt lol)

Zhapalang where i get my motul from is from high n, and if you mail motul directly (yes i did lol) they will point you to either motul sg/high N anyways.
*
Haha. I know someone from cybertech ma. So, redline is like 2/3 the cost of 300v for me.

OBD based? most stock car do not have oil temperature/pressure (well afaik majority of car only detects where it's low pressure or not, no values included) monitoring.

you'll have to get a sandwich plate between the oil filter and have extra gauge.

that's what we've discussed a little few pages back.

=edit=
what car/engine anyways since you're willing to use 300v? quite rare i must say haha
*
You pun macam guna 300v wor. Not so rare wer.

ah sorry didnt know, was under the impression all imprezas are turbocharged laugh.gif

and yea those watery esters... very interesting stuff on the tachometer tongue.gif

That is like saying all lancers are evo.

This is why subaru have to call it wrx from now on and ditch impreza as a separate line up.

But a 1.6 impreza is indeed rare.
