My car is due for regular servicing very soon.
I am interested to do an engine oil analysis but I do not have any clean uncontaminated bottles around.

What kind of bottle would be suitable to store used engine oil, like some temporary place to keep before sending out to proper lab for analysis.

Dont think I will be able to get hold of blackstone labs kit in this short time period (unless someone here have some spare lying around)

if you're keen on UOA, you can request a free sample bottle from blackstone labs USA.
apparently they ship really damn fast post the pandemic mess. (within a working week)

but, if you still can't make it, perhaps a clean glass bottle? (no way for residues to stick around the walls of the container unlike plastics, that also may be deteriorated from hot engine oil)
though from blackstone labs, apparently you don't need to be too particular on the methods:

The issue is my service is due this coming weekend, not sure if they can do it THAT short notice considering they are in another part of the world.

Yes was also looking into glass bottle, just not sure where can i get it at such short notice.

That why I asking if any folks here have spare blackstone bottle that can be given away icon_question.gif

ah this weekend is really short notice. global shipping can still be delayed and that is expected especially free shipping.

perhaps you can check out Mr DIY or like Mr dollar or daiso, may be expensive (Daiso 5.9 most expensive loll) but i think 100ml +/- bottle shouldn't be too bad on pricing.

i have a spare bottle but i am situated in Melaka currently sweat.gif
=edit=
ah and that spare may be wanted by a friend for his tranny or diff, not sure when he's collecting from me though sweat.gif

Managed to get my used oil, do it need to quickly send to lab or I can wait?

I not sure if not leaving it like that will cause the oil to degrade.

yes they do.
motorcycles, differentials, machineries, aviation etc

you could probably analyze cooking oil if you're really adventurous and got money to spare.
see how much sodium, iron and Calcium your fried chicken used frying oil contains

jokes aside, i've got few gear oil samples in my first page, and my friend has finally contributed the first LSD sample for everyone that i'll be posting soon, ish.
(life gotten super busy for me this year)

Cool, then I will just ask the service center to help me collect both cvt gear oil and engine oil on my next service.

Would love to try cooking oil but too bad I tend to take away more often rclxs0.gif

Hola, anyone got detailed spec on Proton R3 Fully? spec sheet. Viscosity at temp and bla3.. those thingy..

anyone?

Seems like if you search in petronas lube PDS, there are only two fluid that have PDS uploaded and it is ILSAC-GF6 graded (although the R3 oil is GF6A grade).

I dont understand the PDS but seems like PDS is quite simplified, i have some sample pending to send to blackstone for analysis.

I got feeling it is not PAO type engine oil unlike those premium brand like Amsoil or Penrite

Wanna try Petronas Synthium later cz of this comment on oil analysis. Their Shopee mall price is also ok if combo with shopee voucher

Sorry for the late reply

I am the one whom tumpang Quazacolt the petronas oil to Blackstone for oil analysis, the actual oil is actually Proton R3 Fully Synth Oil.
When I asked Proton R3 to share me the PDS, the PDS identical which is shared in an earlier reply I quoted below.

The Syntium 3000 sold in Malaysia is not GF-6a rated, so far the only rated and sold locally is the R3 oil.

A search in API database only show this following petronas lube was GF-6A rated which is also labeled as Syntium 3000

Too bad alot of petronas good stuff was not even really sold here, this show Malaysian cant swallow the high cost of high end Petronas lube but no issue paying that same amount of money for Motul or Liqui Molly lol

Currently planning to do extended track session with this oil, hope to see how does it stack up after multiple track run icon_idea.gif

If u look at Petronas shopee mall, 5w30, it is rated under ILSAC GF-5, which it is correct to say it's not GF-6 rated. Even the bottle showing it not GF-6a. But look at their Syntium 7000 series, it has GF-6A wording there.
Not sure why but maybe that what they decide to sell here locally, I have no reason to believe petronas would like to scam us but maybe they have specific reason of doing so since they have a local lube plant in Melaka isnt it?

QUOTE(ayamxxx @ Aug 14 2024, 07:10 AM)
Btw look at Mizu, 0w20, it is also ILSAC - GF -6A rated. Doubt this specifications they can fake one.
*
Not sure abt Mizu but for me as long its rated in API page it should be fine.
Tricky part is if the manufacturer is using an totally different naming for their line
Like company abc file their data to API but on their product were branded XYZ with no links to ABC brows.gif

I don't think they intend to scam etc, its a business with plenty of law to comply with. Believe the 7000 Syntium series as the latest products hence with the latest requirements, GF-6A, while the old products using old requirements.
*
7000 series i believe is top tier item in syntium range, that why i am a little bit bingung with the PDS saying its only 3000 series.
But nevertheless, lets see how it goes on multiple track use
Had no issue going tru two 4 hours track day session drool.gif after based on sample sent out much earlier

For API, it should be listed there in their website etc. And from this post, if want to purchase EO online, buying it from shopee mall is better than any private seller, except for certain cases where there areĀ  a few well known, reputable company that even has physical store, example Vanli Group.
*
thumbsup.gif I myself also browse around shopee mall to get rough idea of prices, worse case go to petrol station or the distributor directly (eg motul or penrite) even that mean a slightly higher prices
