Was wondering if anyone tried hks super racing oil?

This brand seems to lack data and documents to support their claims. Decided to give it a try (10w35)
And so far others have been claiming that its an oem from idemitsu. No api or whatsoever.

Day 1 on it and engine temp seems to be lower than b4.
Have not decided if i would utilise this till my next change, might just drain it and revert to the idemitsu im comfortable with.

Any inputs? Since there is no certs or data, asking input from sheer user expereience. Thanks

Hmmm that is bad. Any source to this claim?

heard this from 2 workshops while when doing my distribution trips to my regular workshops. just check your EO regularly, if it is recycled oil, changed it out and do engine flush.
*
Aren't most oils of up to 50% are recycled oil? At least that is what i read.

"In Europe, about 50 percent of motor oil is re-refined, thanks to regulations dating to 1975 that were revised in 2008, say analysts at Kline & Company, a market research firm based in Parsippany, New Jersey. In North America, only about 10 to 15 percent of motor oil is re-refined." Source
Personally thinks that recycled oil if process stringently, may be as good as new with the technology up to date in refining.
My concern is on the HKS oil if it is a quality oil that protects, lubricates and cools engine down and not forgetting, not so prone to causing gunks.

You sell oil btw? haha, thanks for the headups, good if you can provide more details on this, I'm contemplating to switch it out, but year end finance a bit heavy. >.<

autosaver sells it. I service my car there.

Weird though...it's api certified, but no donut?

well maybe they are confident that people should have enough recognition that SK lubricants produces good EO that's certified? or a lot of people are generally ignorant about API anyways as evident in this thread? tongue.gif

It's not weird, bro.
Certified but no donut is not wrong.
Non certified but put donut is certainly wrong.
Get my meaning?
*
Perhaps the certification does not span outside America? How does API works in that sense? I do know that a different packaging would mean that manufacturer would need to re-certify their eo. For example idemitsu oil...same brand but different model also need to re-certify. (Asia = extreme eco, elsewhere = idemitsu fully synthetic oil)

Also, your experience on Zic oil? I see that base oil stats isn't that bad. Does it break down fast in our weather?

I'm still medium when it comes to OCD, I know a guy who uses Royal Purple as his flush oil minus the flush additive. That fella is rich AND ocd.

You are in no way considered as "medium" or mediocre.

You orang gila! shocking.gif shocking.gif

Double flushing.

On the side note, i'm using lambda oil primer as my engine flush. I am unable to find information on this if it is a petrol/alcohol based product. Not listed anywhere but reviews are good; so is my experience.
Aside from testing, how can I know if it's a good product with the absence of product info?

Hmm, looking at your answer, I think will just skip the first 2 methods, feeling it and watch the color.

About the filtration media, can I use a paper filter? like what they use in chemical labs? or that is too resistance for EO?
However, I have been sticking few magnets on the oil filter for sometime, to avoid the particles roaming inside my engine.

Anyway, as starting point, I will just stick to 10000KM interval or less with twice filter changing (every 5000KM) lets see how well the Amsoil doing.  biggrin.gif
*
How is this done? Wouldn't oil spill when the oil filter is removed, and would continue to flow while trying to attach a new filter?
Instead, why not opt for mobil 1 filter? Those are quite good and easily obtainable. roughly x2 the price of normal filter, and have better filtration. Don't have to go through so much hassle.

Hmm..so i discover this recently.

http://www.kixxaustralia.com.au/products/o...-clean-4-litre/

Thoughts anyone? if i am not wrong, basically this is a engine oil with concentrated cleaning additives. Drain old/used engine oil, and fill this as engine flush, let run for a period of time and drain. Only then you fill it in with the actual EO for daily usage.

MSDS pun ada, macam normal "EO" only.

Hi sifus,

Read up recently on the GTL process and my car is due for its oil change soon. So wanted to get the helix ultra 0w30 to try it out

Been searching high and low, tesco, aeon, shell stations, i am unable to find such viscosity being sold. 5w40 is common, yet i understand the 0w30 have been launched for some time.

Any idea where i may get it?

Btw, 5w40 pureplus are having promotion @ tesco & shell stations now.

Such a good read. Now I regret having to switch to a 5w40 oil.
But in my defence shell helix ultra are mostly that range. 0w30 is being sold at rm320!

Most modern cars now are recommended to use <30.

Arghhh..

Oil thinner and if frequent doing hard driving, no surprise the oil become water at 130'c and provides lesser protection to engine... Nowadays saw a few Honda insight hybrid starts emitting white smoke like those older car needing engine overhaul, could it be the effects of using xW20?
*
Yes at higher temperature.
But engines are designed To work at certain temperature and is to maintain as so. So shouldn't be a problem right?

Previously at 0w20 mine was emitting white smokes as well, noticeable but not excessive during cold start

After switching to 30, not white smoke was noticeable anymore. It was less than 40k km then
