currently im using LM 5w-40 fully synthetic - synthoil high tech for my camry 2.0e year 2003 model ... for the next service can i use LM Mos2 10w30 semi synthetic ? cuz i need to reduce service cost , usually i will service my car on time
another question fully synthetic can last 10 000km and semi will last 8 000km right ? some workshop at my place told me that fully synthetic can last up to 12 000km and semi up tp 10 000km , which one is true ? or any recommendations on fully synthetic lubricant around rm150 to rm180 4L ? QUOTE(izso @ Jan 15 2016, 06:17 PM) Are you joking!? Where is the logic in that? My car was 10 years old and it never once used anything less than fully syn even me didnt believe it ... thats why im asking this question ... ive been told by this particular workshop , he told me that ... but like i said from day one i got this car till now , all the way fully synthetic |

QUOTE(izso @ Jan 16 2016, 10:14 AM) The mentality of old school mechanics is that "If it's ain't broke, don't fix it". So basically seals, gaskets and all that - they don't do preventative maintenance - they fix and replace only if there's a problem. Semi and mineral oils don't have the cleaning ability of fully syn oils so in a way gaskets and seals last longer and probably hence the mechanics statement of switching to semi. Personally I'd avoid the mechanic at all costs and find another (or just DIY) usually what brand of engine oil did you use ? |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Feb 2 2016, 02:21 PM) ahem. so the 10w 40 will last around 16 000km , the 5w 50 will last till 40 000km .. just doing some survey first bout the pricing , thanks for the feedbackamsoil xl is 10k MILES (convert yourself to km) or 6 months, whichever first. amsoil signature series is 25k MILES or 1 year, whichever first. BOTH are 100% fully synthetic also, it seems like your place selling damn expensive lol. XL typically 40-45/liter +/- SS 55-65/liter +/- |

my toyota camry 2003 ( 13 years old ) mileage reached 262 000km , from day 1 got the car till now , im using 5w 40 as recommended by the service centre ... recently tempted to use 0w 30 or 5w 30 engine oil due to better fuel cosumption as claim in their official website ... is it okey for me to use 0w 30 or 5w 30 for my 13 years old camry ?

QUOTE(B500 @ Mar 12 2016, 03:27 AM) Not only better fuel consumption, most importantly the xW30 oil won't thicken as much at morning start up temperatures. As you know, 90% of engine wear occurs at start up. The viscosity at operating temp (100 deg C) between the xW30 and xW40 oils are quite close to each other (example, 10cSt vs 14cSt) , but the start up viscosities are much different, with the xW30 oil offering better start up protection, which is most critical imho. woaaah thanks |

QUOTE(Super Maniam @ Mar 14 2016, 11:58 AM) Guys, Liqui Moly 10w 30 , Petronas 800 5w 30 ( both semi synthetic ) .. if you add rm20 more might be repsol 5w 40 fully synthetic or total 5w 40 fully synthetic Would like to get some opinion, for around RM150.00 what is the best engine oil I can buy and why. I've been cracking my head about this and am confused so appreciate you 2 cents... |

yes for me liqui moly is expensive , but im too curious bout it , so currently use it at my mum toyota camry ( liqui moly 5w 40 full syn ) .. for the next service thinking just to use semi 5w 30 by petronas , just try to safe some cost on service ... this camry basically use for city driving bangi to kl - bangi area only - once in a while bangi to muar johor ... so i think time to use semi , as i will service my mum car on time
