ohmy.gif  so short lifespan?
me normally will use it during weekend for trip.
driving it, anything from 30km to 60km on that day.
if for outstation, then it will be more than that for sure.

Me drive it for it to recharge the car battery as well too

me now not too sure want to change EO when and with Semi or Fully
last time fully and now it time to change again

I also have a 17 years old car as weekend spare car. Used as backup when any of my other vehicles breakdown especially my other 20 year old daily driver, etc.
Alternatively I used it occasionally to places where parking is not as secure (not want to risk the newer cars) and to workplace to hike up the mileage and warm up the car properly.

Used low mileage nowadays and my EO is premium FS PAO that cost over RM300. Yet in order to continue keeping the car engine trouble-free (except for wear and tear or inevitable old age parts) for long term with tip top engine condition, I did not skimp on the EO.

Personally to save about 150+ per change is not worth the definite increase in engine vibration, decrease in performance beside increase risk of possible early oxidization of oil.

Our weather is very hot and yet humid, that is consider somewhat under severe category in car manufacturer service categorization. The oil tends to oxidize faster once open from bottle even without usage. Short trips increase the oxidization rate as car is not warm up properly.

So while report on FS withstanding for 1 year is not wrong, we are not sure how much the oil oxidize inside your engine in our above mentioned weather, driving and traffic condition, etc. Since not sure, why risk it. All that risk for couple hundreds of savings is not worth it UNLESS you are really out of budget. That one, got no choice, you have to give up on something.

Personally, the high premium EO cost nowadays do sometimes makes me drag 1-2 months extra aka 7th-8th months. My EO is grade 4 PAO, so I figure can drag a bit longer especially low mileage, haha, also pricey. But with this PAO EO, dragging 7-8 month is my usual limit. Yet, I would never consider downgrading the oil to the lower mixed grade semi. Not worth the savings in long term for both performance and cost.

Tried this EO on X70 1.8T. Seem lighter compared b4, but again, any oil change will make this feeling. Plus did change the normal cheap Proton spark plugs to NGK Iridium plug, maybe felt much smoother at the start and light speed drive

Motion based oil basically from petronas, that's what I've heard 😻💦

my weekend car is shaded all the time.
Nowadays trying use it more often, tire very expensive nowadays.
Old tired even got a lot threads left but dare not driving it due to old tire

Previously those mechanics all say old cars should use semi without really telling why doh.gif

Nowadays better stick with FS since Motion & Mizu FS very cheap. Change it around 6~9mths
Now me thinking should i change to thicker oil like FS 5W40 since old engine?

I have a 20+ years old City and 17+ years old Civic. City hitting 240k and Civic 160k mileage.

Still using 5W30 FS for both. Don't bother with those old cars comment, maybe 30 to 40 years old cars where FS is not commonly used yet?

As long as your car no makan current EO and no abnormal engine/performance issues, I would suggest keeping with the current FS viscosity.
Don't change the viscosity unless your engine start having issues with the current one.

Civic still using PS4 tyres. Don't use much nowadays as spare car. Thread practically still new at 4 years old. Figured when hit 5 years or more, it might harden more but normally would have change it off when too hard, whatever happened, tyre is the only thing that have contact between the car and road. I still put priority on it for safety reason. Safety first. Can get cheaper tyres if must, but you have to change it out if you start worry about safety of the tyres.

As for me using a 23 years old toyota camry acv30 2.0e (2003) with current mileage already 422k plus km, just transplanted engine kosong on december 2025 to replaced previous engine which already 22 years plus, done all the tear and wear stuff from the engine, auto transmission until all the handling stuff

Sinced out of showroom, it used 5w30 engine oil until 250k km, then my dad use 10w40 until the car hand over to me few years back.. So sinced ive done transplanted engine kosong with all sorts of tear and wear replacement, my foreman advice only go for 10w40 or 5w40, now keep on using 10w40 for the car

For the tyres, im using continental cc7 year 2023 for all 4 tyres, bought second hand with tire tread 90%, next year thinking to use all brand new tyres but will go for the cheapest option for the brand, but im avoiding non reputable china brand, will see how it goes

Brake pad im using brembo for front and rear wheels with brembo disc rotor with mitsubishi dot4 brake oil

😐💦
