If high mileage engine got problem like oil disappearing, power loss, running rough with strange noise. The oil additives like liqui moly mos2 actually works, it contain molybdenum which is a super lube will makes minor worn engine running smooth and quiet again.

But do take notes that oil additives which designed to bond a protection layer to the metal will have negative effects if added to dirty oil. When gather dirt it will form sludge then clogged the oil passages or strainer. So must add after oil changes or engine flushing may needed before adding.

Agreed but only can tolerate with 10w 40, higher like 15w 50, 20w 50 will makes engine runs like fetching heavy loads.

Next up want to try mizu ester fully 10w 40, heard ester tech already had the the most of additives functions.

no Q&A yet as Blackstone labs getting even slower, lol.
not to mention various typos and errors compared to information provided from my oil slips. (all 3 reports also contained typos and errors)

I am actually quite surprised seeing that Syntium 3000 actually consists of Molybdenum. Seems like it becomes an important friction modifier for engine oil nowadays for improving fuel consumption and reduce wear.

Notice the previous sample of Valvoline SynPower 0w20 has more insoluble (0.4% vs 0.2% in the latest UOA). Possible is it due to the MoS2 additive? As MoS2 itself is a solid lubricant and the particles are just suspended in the base oil of the additive. Hence, under the continuous usage of the oil and the MoS2 gone through heat and pressure, it coated to the internal parts of the engine and breaks down from its solid counterpart. End up the increases in Moly level and reduce in insoluble content.

Just wonder if the sulphur from the MoS2 will affect the TBN number or not? As the test doesn't show the TBN and TAN.

My Polo and Myvi both using Mizu 5W30 or 5W40 for years without issue. Only local brand I trust now. Just buy from official store.

Molybdenum is very popular these days because it's one those additives that doesn't have any obvious detrimental issues.

The only problem is that they aren't like zinc or phosphorus that's able to cling to metal surfaces. Hence their benefits are also very limited.

Another "issue" is how there's differences in MoS2 similarly to base oil
https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/w...ar-moly.314523/
I'm not sure if there's any tests or analysis that can determine or differentiate the various MoS2 types.
(Base oil you can)

The insolubles are negligible and it's apart of my previous Q&A and recent Q&A/notes
Regardless, you can also refer to
https://www.blackstone-labs.com/all-about-insolubles/
Basically, the MoS2 are smaller microns than the test, as well as oil filter. (Otherwise they are all caught by the filter and just clog it up)

I've got enough data of TBN so didn't pay extra for it
But through experience and also my previous report, no it doesn't affect TBN
