Tried more than 10 times. Bought from Giant/ Tesco depending on offer. Just saw today shell helix 5w40 sold at tesco for rm109.

Sometimes imported from HK, Turkey etc

I changed my accord 2.4 from sc 0w-20 to mobil 1 5w-30 after the warranty expires.

From meter reading, seem like a slight increase in my fc

never tried 5w30 before , from day 1 till now been using 5w40 .. so planned to try 5w30 for better fc and better engine respond , cant wait for the next service laugh.gif

If unopened, seal still intact. How long can oil be kept past its printed shelf life?

If seal is opened, how long can oil be kept, meaning 2 liter balance cos car needs 6liters? Can the balance be used 12 months later?

Was put my options on the petronas 0w-16 syntium. Unfortunately they did not have 5L bottles. Need to buy 1L extra for my car. Most petronas did not have 1L bottles of this new syntium (yet).

Definitely will improve my fc 😎 hopefully.

Bought mobil 1 cz of 5L bottles.

Dont think jerking problem. Just will feel slightly heavy engine feeling.

5w20 kinda hard to find unless online. 0w-20 is for most newest engine. For high mileage engine, it is quite risky to convert with 0w20 oil

5w30 is ok, dont think u had any engine eating oil problem with the camry. iinm the mobil 1 had 0w30 (green sticker) for better fuel consumption.

Want to share my experience with EO as I'm new in this subject. I have a Kelisa with 160k mileage. Previously all serviced in P2 SC but decided to diy as I'm not satisfied with their service.

First I tried Mobil 1 5W30 (fully synthetic newer vehicle formula). Engine felt lighter and more responsive. But after just 3000km started to hear tappet noice during cold start or high rev even when it's hot. Also, oil consumption was high (no oil dripping on floor and no smoke from tailpipe) and had to top up 3 times. EO also look very dark, maybe because Mobil 1 removed much sludge due to better detergent.

After just 3000km I decided to change oil as I have no more leftover to top up. Picked up Lexus fully synthetic 5W40 to try out thicker oil. Engine much quiet now with no tappet noise even during cold start. But engine performance feels heavier. Oil consumption still yet to see.

Probably next oil change I would go for 0W40 as this will be slightly thinner than 5W40. What do you guys think?

Your valve seal might began to wear out , contact your trusted workshop and do a top overhaul

Anyone bought Shell Helix Ultra 5W30 from 88 Auto Garage? Is their oil genuine? The packaging of the engine oil is different from usual one.

My car manual advises to use 10W-30, can I use 5W-30 instead?

Should be no problem although 10w30 is slightly thicker than 5w30.

I have an old Honda Accord with 225000KM on it, my dad's old car la, he refuses to use any synthetic oil and only used mineral oil like Shell Helix HX5 15W-40 or Castrol GTX and so far the engine runs fine, nothing special. He even uses Castrol GTX 15W-40 in his Mercedes for 11000KM then only do oil change, he told me the mechanic said the engine still very clean even tho the car is 15 years old with 260000KM.

Do you think it's a good idea to change to semi-synthetic 10W-40 A3/B4 oil? Will it have better FC or pickup?

Or just stay with Shell Helix HX5? Sorry for all the questions I'm really noob and just started learning about all these things about car maintenance

Since the engine is considered on the high mileage side, better to stick with mineral oil as what you father did all these while.

Using semi or fully synthetic oil which may have better cleaning properties might cause leakage later.
